May 14 — Joan Rivers is taking on the Gladiator. The funny lady shocked some viewers of “Larry King Live” on Friday when she called Russell Crowe “a nasty, evil, arrogant son of a b****.” Rivers wouldn’t explain exactly why she hates Crowe, saying, “I’m sorry I can’t go into stories about him.”

BUT ONE SOURCE says that Rivers has loathed the actor because he was “horribly and terribly rude” to a low-level staffer who works with her.
“A sweet woman who worked with Joan congratulated Russell Crowe after he won an Oscar for ‘Gladiator,’ ” says the source. “Russell cursed her out. He used the f-word. She was pretty upset.”
Since then, says the insider, Joan has had it in for Crowe. She once told the BBC that “he has the manners of a turd” and once after interviewing him she let viewers know that he doesn’t wear deodorant.

“At least half of Hollywood hates Russell,” says the source. “Joan’s just the only one with enough cojones to announce it on national television.”
A spokesman for Rivers says she’s vacationing and unavailable for comment and Crowe’s spokeswoman had no comment.

Though I don't get those shows, I'm really getting the impression that there might be some truth to the rumour that Crowe is a boorish person, because some people might just be talking to draw attention to themselves, but Joan, she doesn't really need that at his point in her life!
I thought that the whole thing was publicity stunts. But now...

I've never heard anyone saying anything like that about Mel Gibson.

I guess where there's smoke there is sometimes fire.

I have to go along with what you said Miss B.

I watched an interview Barbara Walters had with him and they had to bleep out several of his responses.

Well I'm not one to just be influenced by a pretty face!
Seriously, I get the impression that he's got a really mean reputation.

I've heard that Ernst of Hanover is another fellow like that. I haven't heard anyone who has anything good to say about the guy!
He's beaten up people in Kenya, I hear he is absolutely atrocious to people in the airplanes, and he's publicly urinated on the Turkish display at the world exhibition in Hanover!

You know I see the people who work in my building and sometimes the rich and famous treat them like dirt. They don't say hello or goodbye, just grunt, and the guys are always saying, "just wait till he calls me for something!"
And then you'll see the people who are always nice to others no matter how wealthy or famous they are!
If you want to know what someone is really like, ask his secretary, or his nanny, or his garage mechanic!

He is just an arrogant idiot and good on Joan Rivers! Was it the Emmy's or some other awards night when they cut his speech and he was furious about it ... some poem he was reading or something. (Plus he's a Souths (Australian Rugby League team) supporter which, really, says it all.
