How sad, I can't even remember the last time I attended a concert. I'd give my eye-teeth to see Leonard Cohen though. Lucky you!

In the space of 2 days, I saw Status Quo and Leo Sayer! I saw Leo a year or so ago, but it's the first time I'd seen Quo, and , even in his 60s, Francis Rossi has got it! Fantastic!

I won tickets on the radio recently to see Sir Bob Geldof and the Boomtown Rats. Although I am not a huge fan, I was looking forward to going, however, the Australian tour was cancelled because of lack of interest. Apparently they just couldn't sell the tickets, even after they combined the concerts with those of other artists such as Eurogliders and Mental as Anything. The radio station hasn't decided what they are going to give me as a prize in lieu of this one - I gave them the hint that I would not be upset if I got tickets to the upcoming Bon Jovi concert instead!

Pre-empting a little, but yesterday I bought tickets to see Mental As Anything this coming Friday. Apart from the fact that I've never seen them live before, I'm looking forward to the fact that they are playing within walking distance of home!

Update - The sound quality was ordinary (you couldn't understand about 90% of Greedy's ramblings), but even with the young blokes in the band, Greedy and Martin have still got it!

Last concert was Elton John. I've seen Broadway show recently though. My favorite would be that in a few days I'll see Paul McCartney in concert. I'm very excited!

Ooooo, I'm a fan of Fred too! Last "concert" I attended was at the Enoch River Cree Casino (several acts) and Crystal Shawanda (native Canadian) was the main draw. Lives in Nashville now, but if you have a chance to see her, it's worth it (she played at the Edmonton EX this year as well, right before Colin James). Small sampling: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RGMTNuzSBk(but you really need to hear her do Joplin - scary good).

Next weekend, I'm going to see the Delltones. For those overseas, The Delltones have been around since 1959, still with mostly the original lineup (except for original singer Noel Wiederberg, who was killed in a car accident in the early 60s).
I rang up to book a "show and stay" package, and they were booked out. For the Delltones! I'm assuming that I'll be the youngest in the audience, but I'm looking forward to it.

I'm going to see Space (as in the band from Liverpool, British members of a certain age might remember them) on Friday in Birmingham - this will be the sixth time I've seen them this year. They were the last band I saw, in Hebden Bridge in August. They're doing a 20th anniversary tour and I'm also going to be seeing them in Liverpool next week and London on Halloween. I like to think I'm making up for all the times I didn't see them back in the day.
Also, I'm taking my mum to see the Pogues as an early birthday present in December.

Pee Wee Wilson is the only original left, but he IS the Delltones. The others have been with him for 20-30 years, so it wasn't like it was just an imitation. Pee Wee is 73, and you'd think he was 40 years younger. Amazing show, thoroughtly recommend them to every member of the family.

'Papa Oom Mow-Mow', 'Hanging Five', 'Mister Bassman'. Great music, all of it, and Pee-Wee is brilliant!

The most recent concert was Aimee Mann and Ted Leo a few weeks ago.
Last week I caught Lily & Madeline at a local record shop in-store performance. They're a regional act whose debut album is catching on nationally. The music is indie folk with some great harmonies.

In a couple of weeks, my best friend and I are going to go see Lindsey Stirling in San Fransisco!
She's one of my favorite artists. Her original music is mostly Techno / Dubstep, but on a violin. Her music also has a strong classical influence that you wouldn't expect for techno. She also does a lot of medleys and covers (my fave being the cover of the Mission Impossible theme she did with The Piano Guys).

I don't drink or smoke any more. That takes half the fun out of concerts. Blah. Maybe one day I'll have a drink but I thought at one point I blew my liver out.
