Here is one, place mohair knitting yarn in the fridge to prevent shedding.

Place tights in the fridge to make them last longer.

What I want to know is WHO thought to themselves - 'Ah, I know, I'll put my mohair and tights in the fridge'?

I am always putting things in the fridge that don't belong there.

Once my purse was in the fridge for several hours.

I do have to add however, that my gum was fresher after that.

And, I'll have you know that I registered for a free Furby the other day, just because of you! (I didn't win.) I was interested to see if I'd have the guts to take the batteries out when it started getting obnoxious. I didn't want to laugh at your antics with yours until I could prove to myself that I'd do otherwise!

Those stinking Furbies!! I bought one last year and it was great fun for a while. The kids got sick of it so it was put up in the wardrobe. We got it down months later and found that it was sick because it had been neglected.It was constantly sneezing and telling you it wasn't feeling well. To cure it you then have to pet it for hours on end and I ended up taking the bleedin' thing to bed with me to help it get better!!
I thought I was through with kids in my bed!

I bought a can of red paint to paint the town with. I can hardly wait!! I am bringing a bottle of champagne with me so that we can make a toast just as soon as we meet. I am going to take a train to get there. I am excited, the city will never be the same. We might even make the 5:00 news.

Hmmmmm.....I'm beginning to get the feeling that another backrub and keylime pie is in the works here. And, this time, by two of the moderators. Ah! Life can be sweet at times!

Sandalwood, that means we have to get some fresh coconut milk from Hawaii for Linda's Pina Colada (no alcohol necessary) and we have to buy LOTS of Eagle Brand Condensed Milk. She loves the stuff, she'll even drink it right out of the can. Then we better put on our aprons as we are going to be baking keylime pies all day. Save some energy as we will giving Linda massages also. Whew!! I am worn out just talking about it.

Since you're already going to be getting that fresh coconut milk anyway, could you bring along a tall, handsome Hawaiian man for me? Wealthy is a definite "plus" as well. He must be really, really romantic - a true "gentleman." Remember my post in the Tavern - he has a high standard to beat.

Back to the topic in question....! My ma in law used to put her stockings in the freezer overnite - no not to chill her legs next day but becos' she'd heard it stopped them laddering! She read it in some women's mag.
Also did you know if you put cling film in the fridge it stops it clinging to your hands, arms and legs and only sticks on the thing you're wanting it on!
As for doing daft things, am I the only person who puts empty cans in the dishwasher before putting them out for recycling?!

Hello Terry, Sandalwood lives in Camarillo CA, and I live in San Diego CA. I am going to take a train this summer and visit with Sandalwood. Talk about trouble. Can you imagine the two of us together? The city will never be the same. I'm bringing my Santana CD's and my bongos, so we will probably get kicked out of the hotel room. Hillsider, I am really BIG on recycling so I do the same thing I ever keep my veggie and fruit left-over for my compost site, to use for my gardens.

Did anyone else get any of those darn furbies? This thread always made me giggle

One of the kids in a boarding house brought one back after a holiday. The thing ended up being passed from dorm to dorm as they all got fed up with the wretched thing.

Eventually the houseparents committed Furbicide and took the batteries out of it.

I did have a Tamagotchi though - it kept beeping in the middle of lectures so in the end I killed it.

Talking of 'things' which need attention, recently someone broke into the Brook Centre here and removed some of those electronic 'babies' then damaged them and left them in the road outside! Perhaps they had one spending a few days in their house causing sleepless nights.

I wanted a Furby but having reread this thread I might just pass!

i know that this is a little late but this item is just perfect for here i found this tidbit in an old book heliose tricks for housekeepers, it says an easy to shell frozen peas is, to take 2 pans and put one on each side of the wringer of your washing machine (how long has it been since you have seen one except on the antique road show) i said this was an "old" book ; put the peas on the intake side and start the wringer, put the peas up to the wringer run the pods though, the frozen pods will pop open before they go through the wringer ahhh necessity is the mother of invention
