I thought it was supposed to be every 3 hours, at least it used to be, but it doesn't seem to be so common anymore.

Could you tell us where it says that? This is what I see from the Gold Member Madness page:
"All questions in this tournament are new on FunTrivia within the past 30 days. Totally new questions that almost no one has seen yet!"

It doesn't specify the source of the "totally new questions",
so perhaps it could come from both QQ and new quizzes?

On the site home page, under the link for Gold Madness, it says 'From new quizzes'. Of course, that may just be old text. I know that when I was going for the Gold Madness badge, I played every quiz that came online so that I had a better chance of recognizing the questions when I played the game, and they were then definitely from quizzes. QQ questions may have been introduced without the home page blurb being modified.

When one of my questions seemed to be taking an age to be accepted, I went to the Single Question authoring page from my profile and found a comment from an Editor, explaining why it had not gone through.

Unlike quizzes submitted problems, single question problems do not go into Notes, so they could be missed.

According to this post from Terry in an old thread, the single questions were meant to show up in the hourly games:

Obscurity: 20% - 60%
Impossible: 0% - 60%

BUT... as someone else posted, I have not seen the QQ questions appear in either Easy or Smartest.

And nothing is said about the quizbot mixes.

Does "Impossible" mean the Gold Madness game? If so, then this would contradict the blurb on the home page, as looney_tunes pointed out, that states that the questions come from new quizzes.

So, perhaps Terry could jump in and clarify?

Wouldn't "Impossible" be the Impossible category in the Global Challenge?

That's what I assumed was meant by Impossible.

The quizbot quizzes appear to be yet another venue for roadtesting the questions once they pass out of the New Questions game. More plays than happen in the first day will give a better value for level of difficulty.
