WHY DO FISH FLOAT UPSIDE DOWN WHEN THEY DIE?
Gruesome, huh? The reason is because the fish's stomach and other internal organs tend to collect air and other gasses as they're decomposing. The gas tends to float and thus head for the surface, causing the bottom of the fish to flip around to the surface. Poor little fishy.

Considering the topic anture I would like to be a tribute at this point to FREDDO, or otherwise freddy for short. He was my gold fish. He was given to me in 1995 on Christmas eve. One year following this exact day (christmas eve 1996) he died.

I hope you do not think that I am really dumb, but I really loved that fish- especially at a time were I did not really trust many people to listen to what I had to say.

Rest In Peace Freddo

Amlet, a pet is a member of the family - be it furry, or slimy or fishy or whatever. I think it's perfectly normal for you to grieve the loss of something that was special to you.

And, thanks for letting us know about Freddo. Consider this topic a tribute to him.

Oh Amlet, you have got to buy a new one to keep you company. I don't think that you are dumb at all!!! Pets are very important to us, it doesn't matter what kind they are. I know that Sagebrush has a goldfish or two. Freddo was probably a very happy little fishy. Now it time to get get a new one to give it a happy life. What do you think? We could help you name him/her!! That would be fun!

Amlet, it's not hard to get attached to fish or anything that you get to know and love. I've had friends attached to spiders and snakes and things that others wouldn't want to be close to, musch get attached to. But they do. Like Jo says, just get another and this one make differen't. Different color, size or personality. That's right. Even fish can have different personalities (actions, movements, etc). Especially give it a different name. You don't wnat another Freddo, you want another pet/friend.
JoJo was mistaken in that I have goldfish, I have tropical fish, but it doesn't matter (except that tropical are more expensive) because you are choosing a pet that you want.
The next post we should hear from you is that you went and got one. Goldfish aren't that expensive and are easy to maintain. Go for it girl.
