Jo didn't you do something like this?
Need an extra table but can't afford a new piece of
furniture? Make one out of plywood and fabric.
A skirted table, that is to say a round table covered with
cloth, can be an attractive addition to your room. You can
make it the exact height you want and use any fabric you
need. It adds a soft touch to a room, whether it's a
feminine style of fabric with ruffles or a sleek black
cloth.
To make it, you need a three-quarter-inch piece of plywood
cut in a circle and supported by an x-shaped stand with the
x applied directly under the circle so it can stand on its
own. If you don't have the tools to cut it, check the
home-improvement store--they probably have pre-cut table
supports, or they can cut some for you. The result is an
attractive, sturdy table for a reasonable price.
