Day 8 saw the Final Four decided. LeoDaVinci was the only player to pick the card. There are now a mere eight different combinations of results in this Madness -- see table at the end of this post.

The well has run dry for BxBarracuda and N-Bomb .. they're running dead with no live picks left. Nonetheless, BxBarracuda can still collect gold, if Louisville don't win the final (that's six of the eight scenarios)
.. and N-Bomb can still finish with bronze if Syracuse win the final, or Syracuse lose the final to Wichita (three of the eight scenarios).

If Louisville win the final (it doesn't matter who they play), Sarah606 will push BxBarracuda aside and collect gold. Although LeoDaVinci still has a complete set of live picks, he needs Louisville to beat Michigan in the final -- to finish on the podium for bronze behind BxBarracuda with silver and Sarah606 with gold.

That leaves us with ozzz2002 .. he can finish on the podium with a medal (not gold) in five of the eight possible scenarios remaining. If I've done the calcs right, these 5 players are the only ones who can finish on the podium.

We're almost there; this Madness is nearly over. It's a turkey shoot between BxBarracuda and Sarah606 for the gold medal. If Louisville win on Saturday, we won't know the winner of this Madness until the final on Monday.

I've seen ball carriers on Michigan throw two heavy shoulders to Louisville players chests, one no call and one foul on Louisville. In the middle of that a Louisville player drove the lane, 3 people ended up on the floor and it was ball out Louisville. But Lville has all qualities, hitting lights out 3 pointers from 7 feet behind the line now. Will be interesting.

Louisville beats Michigan and Sarah606 scores enough points, on the last day, to overhaul BxBarracuda and win the gold medal! She was leader once, on the last day. She has previously finished on the MM podium once, silver back in 2004. BxBarracuda collects back-to-back silver medals in this comp.

Howie72, illiniman14 and szabs also picked Louisville to win it all.

LeoDaVinci came out of nowhere to steal third base from ozzz2002, by a mere 2 pts .. he finished with perfect picks on the last 3 days. At one stage he was 27 points off the podium back in 12th place! This is his fourth appearance on the MM podium (the previous three in 2006, 2008 and 2010 were all silver).

This brings to an end the 12th edition of Madness here at FT, and our 12th different winner. This breaks the FT record .. the NFL comp ran for 11 years and saw 11 different winners, before a repeat winner emerged.
