With spring training just started, the MLB 2013 season will begin soon.

The rules are as follows:
1. One point for a correct tip. You may tip home or away (there are NO ties in baseball - games go into extra innings to determine a winner, even if they play 18 or more total innings)
2. Deadlines are Thursday midnight FT (6am* London, 10:30am India, 3pm* Sydney, 5pm* NZ) with a two hour period of grace. The final week's deadline will be Friday midnight FT, since that week will be Sunday games. Stars are noted by places that DO observe daylight saving time.
3. There will be a one point deduction if tips are posted after the grace period. Default will be the higher of six points or Wooden Spoon score, and will be your score if you tip after the first game starts, which will be about 36 hours after deadline.
Ex: Wooden Spoon score is seven, default is seven. Wooden Spoon score is five, default is six.
Note: We will tip the Saturday games each week, excluding the final day of the season (Sun). We will not tip the opening games of the season; it will start with the first Saturday games.
Bonus points:
1. One bonus point for picking a result solo, or one of two (12 minimum tippers to apply).
2. One bonus point if no more than two games are missed (one or two games may be postponed (games may be postponed due to weather (rain or snow) in baseball) to earn this point). Three postponements or more do not earn a bonus. (i.e., 11+/13, 12+/14, 13+/15) The previous year's comp will determine next year's eligibility.
3. Tips of all homes or all homes bar one are ineligible for any bonus points.

In case of Friday postponements, the FIRST of the Saturday games will be the one counted for our comp, as per MLB rule 4.13f.

Are they going to try to play late season spoiler again?

The Blue Jays bought a lot of high priced pieces, but that doesn't always work, ask the Red Sox.

I can't see the O's making it back. Too many holes in the pitching staff. Is Brian Roberts ever going to come back to form? Is Manny Machado for real?

Dickey, Johnson, Morrow, Buehrle, and Romero (ugh) is better than Gonzalez, Tillman, Hammel, Chen, Matusz.

Brian Roberts, I wish, but not likely, I'll take his leadership in the clubhouse.

Machado, he has the potential to be great and he played very well down the stretch in clutch times.

Our last years opening day pitchng staff all changed, except for Chen, by the end of the season and our bullpen has been very good, finally.

The East will be interesting.

Can't we all just get along, I'm looking at you Canada and Mexico, that was a mess in the 9th innning last night. Odd WBC tie breaker rules and a 3rd Basemen calling for an HBP start the disaster, in the middle of it one player throws another to the ground and then runs. I don't want to think of the headlines if Morneau, Gonzalez or Votto had been injured in that brawl.

It made for some interesting TV. Nothing good's ever on at 5:30 on a Saturday afternoon.

But.... Mexico started it! I agree with Ernie Whitt, because of run differential, you have to play every at-bat like it's 0-0.

Boy, there are some serious baseball fans here this season ...how does it matter...we call it cricket, you call it a slugfest I will try too

The unwritten rules of the game came into conflict with the WBC rules.

This isn't a league game, this is an International Competition and in my opinion the 3rd basemen and pitcher should have represented their country better, as well as the water bottle throwers and fan who threw the baseball onto the field. In a way the umpires didn't do their jobs either, if they had and seen the situation happening, called the pitcher out after the first inside pitch with a warning, then tossed him after the 2nd way inside pitch, it doesn't get started.

Literal slugfest. The free trade of punches is acceptable under NAFTA.

I can understand the emotions. They beat the US, and now were losing to the Canadians. Did you notice the Canadians went for the jerseys? Taking a book from the hockey players.

But, it's got people talking about the WBC. Not much hype this time around.
