The only truly Australian version of football is back again! 2012 saw Chogodad, paper_aero and N-Bomb on the podium. Can they do it again? Do you have what it takes to topple them? If so, put your name down for 23 weeks of tension and excitement! Rules- One point a correct pick, nothing for a loss. - A bonus point for picking a perfect round. - Default if you forget to pick, wooden spoon score. - Tiebreaker will be HoF v Spoons. Largest margin wins, or if the margin is equal, total HoF count wins. - Deadline will be the start of the first game each weekend- usually a Friday night, with the occasional Thursday. - Late starters will start on the Wooden Spoon score. Round 1 has been posted, and we kick off on March 22.

Welcome to the AFL Tipping comp for 2013. Eighteen hearty souls have put their tipping prowess on the line, and in Round 1, most of us have egg fairly dripping off our face. We have a new face in the ranks- please welcome Aussiedrongo to his first comp- good luck!
Essendon travelled to the City of Churches and beat Adelaide. Only BxBarracuda picked that result. Richmond nosed out Carlton, the Doggies slaughtered Brisbane in a result that nobody saw coming. St Kilda went to the party capital of Australia and had their colours lowered by Gold Coast- wwe84 had the unmitigated gall to pick THAT one.
As a result of all that carnage, ASA and chogobad find themselves in the lead. 5/9 is nothing to skite about, but they are the only two who scored more than 50%. Five players picked up a spoon each, with 2/9.
Hopefully the rest of the season will not be so silly...

Last week, we had a success rate of 57 winners- this week we doubled it. Most game went according to script, with one perfect scoe and three near-misses.
Essendon gave the hapless/hopeless Demons a footy lesson, Geelong stole the game from the Roos, and in the blockbuster between the two teams that everyone loves to hate, Collingwood got a couple of very late goals to edge out Carlton. I think there were about a million people crammed into the MCG for that one.
The first bonus point for the season, and a perfect score, goes to our resident AFL expert, Sypher. For his efforts, he screamed up the ladder, all the way to the top. During an in-depth discussion we once had, I asked him where the back pocket was- he pulled his wallet out of it...
Our three spooners did a Humpty Dumpty, and had three great falls.

chogobad missed a perfect round by less than a straight kick- Essendon got pipped on the post. It was still enough for him to move into second place, behind Sypher. srini701 only missed out on the local derby in Adelaide, and he moved up a few positions.
On the other hand, wwe84 had a Barry Crocker and fell to the bottom of the heap.
Almost everyone else moved up or down a spot. It will take a couple more weeks before it all settles down.

Sypher got knocked off the top perch by chogobad, with N-Bomb sneaking into a share of second.
LeoDaVinci picked the wrong week to not tip, and fell 10 spots- ouch!
BxBarracuda and MikeMaster99 scored very a creditable 8/9 and moved up.
wwe84 has three spoons in his collection, but I reckon that he will hit his straps very soon...

There were SEVEN perfect scores this week, with gtho4 and Aussiedrongo getting two in a row.
A score of 7/9 is usually a good score- this week, it was only good enough to get a spoon. Four players found that out the hard way.
