Today while I was taking my rabbit Sable outside and put her in her hutch she was not really acting like she enjoyed it, so I took her out. When I saw blood on my shirt, looked at her, and realized she lost a claw, I wasn't sure if its normal..... Is it?

Jackie lost one of hers before and it hasn't been a problem. Is it still bleeding?

Kassy, I don't know the answer to your question, but I did want to tell you that I've notified JoJo that you need bunny help. She has one herself and may be able to help you.

Hang on a bit, and she'll be here soon.

Thank you Linda. I tried to post as fast as I could hoping that I could catch KassyG while she was online. If Sable's paw is still bleeding then call the vet and see if you need to bring her in. You should also ask him/her of the name of a good product that stops the bleeding fast. You should keep this on hand so that if you ever clip one of her nails too short and it starts bleeding, you can apply it on her paw.

Do you keep her nails trimmed? If not, they will curl under making it easier for little Sable to get her claw caught on something. If you keep her claws trimmed and this is still happening then call the vet and ask for advice, most vets will give simple advice on the phone at no charge.

Once a week? Now I feel quilty. I have to wrap poor Jackie in a blanket to keep her still when I clip hind nails. She hates for anyone to touch her hind feet. She's good about the front ones, she even lets me file them down with an emery board. It's a funny site to see. Give Sable a big hug for me. Oh yea, is she a full sized rabbit and what color is she? If you have a photo of her, I will put it on the Pets Page in the Scrapbook for you.

She sounds beautiful. If you would like for me scan the picture for you then send it to me via snail mail. Just send an e-mail to me requesting my mailing address and I will send it to you. A few people have used this method, so why don't you think about it.
