Applying a teaspoon of salt can singly kill lawn weeds, such as dandelions.

Do summer cracks appear in your yard? This will happen if the soil is nostly clay. The cracks can be filled with a 50/50 mixture of sand and soilless peat. You can even reseed by just adding the seeds to the mixture! If it doesn't work the first time, try it again.

Lawn patches can be removed by using spare bits of turf cut to fit the gap. Add plenty of compost and water, too.
