I heard in the middle of the night that this volcano has begun a violent eruption phase. It is located on the Alaskan Peninsula. What I heard was that the ash plume has risen to over 20,000 feet and will present dangers to air traffic in that part of the globe. The topography of the volcano is nearly a perfect cone shape. It is historically eruptive toward the South. To the Southwest, about 20 kilometers away is another volcano, named Little Pavlof. The warm ground area (2007 data) indicates any pyroclastic flows this time might head Eastward. Just thought I'd send out a heads up since the news is all war and political skullduggery coverage.
