For those who know me or even met me (quite a few), I'll be back in Syndey in October, so with plenty of notice given, it would be nice to meet up with any who wish to come along..

I was thinking perhaps do what we did last time I was around....meet at the Casino and head to the harbour for a great meal and drinks !! Greg, my parents will be with me as well as for the first time...my wife, brother and sister. We are all in Sydney to celebrate my parents 50th Wedding anniversary !!

No doubt a few of you remember Leau? Well, she's currently living in Sydney, studying for her PhD. I could perhaps twist her arm to catch up with some old faces....

School Holidays finish on October 7 in NSW.

And it would be lovely to see Leau again, too!

I was originally thinking that I couldn't make it. My son and I now run a wrestling promotion, and our October show would most likely be on the 19th.
However, the way things are eventuating, I might be able to see my way free and accompany Leau. We'll see what happens.

Bad news, I'm afraid. Because Leau is going so well with her PhD, she has to go back to the Netherlands for a couple of months to do testing of subjects. She leaves at the end of August, and doesn't get back until late November, so she's out of the get-together.

Ok, let's cut a deal here. She will be in NL until Nov 27, but if something is organised, anytime in October except the weekend of the 19th, then I'll be there.

Sorry...that's the only weekend I will be in Sydney...the following weekend I will be in Singapore.

Nothing wrong with Hong Kong but Mum and Dad wanted to see another country....What's funny as my Mum has no idea on distances, asked if Sara would be coming to Sydney? I chuckled...

I used to live in Singapore. Trust me, go to Hong Kong.

I agree Flopsy, Singapore is fine if you are going on to somewhere else. Much too sterile for me. The prospect of Marina Bay Sands makes me shudder! But the food in Singapore is wonderful. The open food markets are not to be missed.The main reason for going I think.

I got food poisoning in one of those markets, my first full weekend there. There were clams in that there Char Kway Teow and they got me.

Then of course my new Chinese colleagues came to see me, bearing gifts. Oranges. Always four or eight of them. They meant well, in fact they were being very kind, but who needs fruit when they've got food poisoning? After a week I ended up with a flat full of mouldy oranges.

So the moral of my story is that if you're in S'pore and want to order Char Kway Teow, learn to say this: "Char kway teow with beef-uh."
