I never knew I was sooooo old - until I googled my name and village. It appears I was married in ... 1793. How come I knew nothing of the kind?

I taught reception on Friday, they are 4&5, and I had to get observations and quotes from them about the Easter story as evidence.
One child said "We have chocolate eggs to remember Jesus because Jesus liked eating lots of eggs when he was alive. But chocolate wasn't invented then.'
Reception days are mostly that surreal.

Ah yes Reception Days!! I stood in front of assembly , as it was my birthday, as did anyone in school. Someone in the front asked me how old I was:
Me: 21
Voice: You were 21 last year.
PS Thanks for the encouragement Mommakat!

I tell them I'm 163 and they all nod sagely.

Ha! Great one for teaching Spoonerisms, if my students know who the heck Fleetwood Mac are!

I have an absolute bucket-load from my daughter - she's 7 and some of the stuff that comes out of her mouth is pure gold.

Yesterday we had this conversation:

Miss 7 - "mum, you need to buy me some jeans"
Me - "oh, why's that?"
Miss 7 - "in case I need to ride a horse"

Now just so you know, she's never a ridden a horse in her life, we don't own a horse, live anywhere near a horse, and none of her friends have horses. I'm not sure when she is thinking she'll need to ride a horse, but apparently she needs jeans for the occasion!

A conversation between my daughter and her 8 year old son who incidently knows nothing of US politics.

Reading The Week Junior with Alex...

Alex 'ooh, there are two USs this week'
Me 'are they about Trump?'
Alex 'Donald Trump?'
Me 'Yes, what do you think about Donald Trump?'
A 'I think he's funny'
Me 'Why do you think he's funny?'
Alex 'he has a funny name'

He does. It's very true.
..........

I don't know how this translates for non-Brits a 'trump' is passing wind so for a person to have that as a name will cause the under 10s to giggle.

Tut, Sue, how very disrespectful. Now that may lead to putting the idea in peoples' heads that the revered Mr Trump is a stupid old f**t. That would never do, now would it?
