My iron is starting to leave black marks on my clothes. I really need some advice on how to clean it and if there is a good product on the market that will help. Thanks in advance.

JoJo, I know they have iron cleaners on the market, but just this morning on the View show, someone was explaining how toothpaste on a soft rag really worked. He said to use a toothbrush to clean out the holes if you got too much paste in them. It looked like it worked. gammab

Hi JoJo,
I have always cleaned the bottom of my iron with a paste of Baking Soda and a soft cloth. Also I use a weak vinegar solution to clean the inside. (put in the vinegar solution instead of just plain water) warm it up so steam comes through the holes, empty it and repeat with plain water before using it on clothes.

It's me again. There's a neat website that tells you how to do anything. It's e-how.com. I checked them and they also use baking soda.
