To make a simple fire starter, get an egg carton, old wood shavings, and parrafin wax.
Melt the parrafin wax, then mix it with the wood shaving. Pour that into an egg carton. While that is cooling, put a small piece of string on it. Cut the egg carton into pieces. You can also use cardboard.

Before I used to go camping, I cut out long stips of cardboard and coil it as tight as I could inside a clean tuna fish can and then pour melted parrafin wax inside. Once you have set up camp just set fire to the cardboard and the fire will last for a very long time.

I have heard of people that do it that way, but I have never done it. Remember, that no tent is fireproof. Keep all flames away from tents and children at all times. Always supervise fires and have a bucket of water nearby!
