Is this thread for any errors that need amending, such as dates etc, that we may find in the daily game?
Not that I've found any. Just curious. It's where you note any problems with the descriptions, whether it is an error or a lack of information, or whatever. Sometimes I decide it doesn't need to be changed, usually I amend the entry appropriately.

I'd like to suggest a more elaborate description for Norman Jaffe. Maybe American architect; pioneered contemporary residential architecture; designed over 50 beach houses on Long Island I'd like to suggest this again, and if not this certainly something more elaborate than "American architect."

American comedienne; actress; wife of George Burns Your answer: Gracie Allen
I thought it was decided not to use the husband of a woman to describe her? Burns and Allen were a double act; his career included work where she wasn't present so it is valid to refer to him on his own but her career was confined almost entirely to being the comic to his 'straight man' so I'd say that referring to her as his wife was allowable. American physician; discoverer of a treatment for anaemia Your answer: Dr. George R. Minot
His title kind of gives it away Thank goodness for that, no one would get it otherwise. English singer-songwriter; musician; 'Stand & Deliver' Your answer: Adam Ant
He was born Stuart Goddard, Adam Ant is his stage name Gary Grant was Archibald Leach, Elton John is Reginald Dwight, Maureen O'Hara was Maureen FitzSimons... the list is endless. Who are we to remove the stage names people choose for themselves and by which they choose to be known?

It was never decided not to refer to people's partners, although some have suggested it. That information is sometimes relevant, as in this case. I think Prince Phillip is there, too, listed as husband of HRH. When it is the only reason why someone is known, I probably wouldn't add them, and if they are currently listed, I would try to find another way to describe them, especially since marriage isn't forever. But it isn't outside acceptable description.
I am certainly not going to list Adam Ant as Stuart Goddard. Performance names are our standard listing. I sometimes include their birth name to help identify them if the only other information is along the lines of English musician. In this case, the title of a song closely connected to him has been used. Of course, I realise that it is also the title of a movie with no connection. If the complaint is that the information provided is misleading, it can be changed.
Title such as Dr, Sir, Lord are used as part of the name where it is standard to use them in reference to the person. Sometimes it may make the answer obvious, sometimes there could be two people/descriptions that might match, just as happens for other aspects of the names and descriptions - gender can be all the same, or one different, or a couple of each; there could be three French names to match with a description that says French novelist, or there could be only one.

I don't like the description of Linda McCartney as 'former wife' of Paul. It makes it sound as if they divorced. Maybe 'late wife' might be better.
Maybe I'm being 'picky' but I have the same reaction every time I see it.

Helen Morse - Australian actress; title role in 'Caddie'; Mlle de Poitiers in 'Picnic at Hanging Rock' She was born in England. Perhaps it would be better if the description were listed as "English Australian" or "English-born Australian" ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helen_Morse

Virginia Dare - English colonist; first European child born in America Forgive me if this has already been discussed/addressed, but if she was born in America, she's not a European child, nor an "English colonist". Her parents were English colonists of course. Right?

It was still an English colony at the time, so she was an English citizen.

Keanu Reeves
Your answer: Lebanese-born Canadian-British-American film actor; 'Speed' & 'The Matrix'
Mr Reeves holds a Green Card, that does not make him an American. He has not claimed British citizenship, although he is entitled to it due to his mother, however he claims to be a Canadian.

Okay. I looked at Wikipedia. I guess he became a Canadian citizen because he lived there so long as a child. Somehow. I know nothing about to become a Canadian citizen. I know many people who were originally American and who became Canadian after living there a while. Sue
