It already is. Sarkozy was French President from 2007 to 2012. I'll change the entry when I get home and can access it.

Egyptian businessman; owner of Harrod's & Hotel Ritz Paris; father of Dodi
Your answer: Mohamed al-Fayed

Mr al-Fayed no longer owns Harrods - and while you're in the database, there's no apostrophe in the name of the store, it's just Harrods. Yes, I know there once was one and there probably still should be, but I think they dropped it at the turn of the 19/20th centuries.

See this one?

14. English former footballer & manager of England's World Cup squad
Your answer: Sir Alf Ramsey

It doesn't make sense. England has had many World Cup squads.

It should say

14. English former footballer & manager of England's World Cup WINNING squad

Or, just to future proof it! smile

14. English former footballer & manager of England's FIRST World Cup WINNING squad

Just in case Gareth and the boys do it this time.

It makes as much sense as the descriptions of French Kings or Roman Emperors - they don't are described as the sole or the first of their kind, either.
More to the point is that in the potential answers to this specific question not a single other English soccer manager was listed.

If you don't want to mention the reason he was knighted, and was in the quiz, it would be better to say "...manager of the England team". They don't just manage for a World Cup.

In today's Who Am I, I scored 15 in 68 seconds....

Calculating your score..

Questions correct: 15 / 15
You took 68 seconds to complete this quiz.

but on the game page it shows 70 seconds

7. Barbarini 30 champ 202 The Mossbacks 15 70 +272 65 1360

Why the discrepancy in the time?

Under Ken Griffey, Jr., it lists the baseball award as "Golden Glove". It should be "Gold Glove". I've made the same mistake myself, so consider it an observation rather than a criticism. Golden Gloves actually refers to a boxing competition for amateurs.

One more minor correction, Malcolm X is listed as a Muslim minister. That's not technically correct, since the members of the Nation of Islam are not considered Muslims (Muslims consider the Nation of Islam to be heretical), and Muslim preachers are called Imams rather than ministers. Malcolm X later converted to Sunni Islam, but never became an imam.
So Nation of Islam minister and leader would be more accurate if it will fit.

*taps mic* Is this thing on?

Minor quibble: Jan Ernst Matzeliger was black (or mulatto, if you prefer) and lived in the United States but was not an "African-American", he was from Dutch Guiana, now Suriname. I have noticed you've been taking out the "African" part of the descriptors as unnecessary so that black Americans are just "American", so here's a prime candidate that could use the treatment, along with a bit of clarification on his nationality.

I'm not even a fan of Salmon P. Chase, but his description as a politician and judge seems inadequate, since he was Secretary of the Treasury and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court at different points in his life. It was his position as the former that meant he "rated" getting on the $10K bill.

I have seen both Gerald Durrell and Lawrence Durrell marked as the author of My Family and Other Animals, so I looked it up. Gerald was the author; Lawrence was his brother and author of The Alexandria Quartet.

The entry in this game for Lawrence Durrell reads: British expatriate novelist; poet; dramatist; travel writer. So wherever you saw him credited with writing Gerald's book, it wasn't here.

If he is a recognisable character does it matter? "Hairs" and "Splitting" come to mind.

We have actually been trying to remove mythological and fictional figures, but the mechanism I use for that involves entering their name, the nI can edit or delete the entry when it comes up. Mars is on my list of the irritating ones that don't show their faces when I enter their names - I got the option of editing someone with the surname Marsden. There are a few of these old entries still floating around, and they don't do much harm, really!

If you're trying to remove mythological and fictional figures, you might consider removing Sam Snead; according to the definition he is "legendary". wink

2. Sam Snead

Your answer: American legendary pro golfer; won a record 82 PGA tour events, but never the US Open

I know that in modern hyperbole real people are sometimes referred to as legendary, but I believe the term should be reserved for the people and creatures of myth and legend.

Yesterday or day before I had both Millicent Garrett Fawcett and Millicent Fawcett in the same set. Same person with two entries.

One more for your to-do list: Zacharias Jansen

Your answer: Dutch spectacle-maker; credited with inventing the telescope

Who? And by whom? Couldn't find him on first search, discovered it should be Janssen with two s's, and his claim to inventing the telescope is dubious at best. Even the first known applicant for a patent for a telescope, Hans Lippershey, was turned down because it was the opinion of the patent board that the technology was already widely known.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_telescope

Adding "(dubious)" at the end would fix it, or changing it to "sometimes credited".

Spelling corrected, and entry changed to read "Dutch spectacle-maker; associated with development of microscope & telescope".
