The brackets are there because she is often known simply as Millie. they do look strange to my eye, because I think of her as Millie Small, so I think I'll remove them.

Joseph Louis Lagrange - His description is missing an "I" at the start. Unless he's just a "talian" tongue

and

Nicholas Monsarrat - Initials in the answer.

Initials disappear, and the description adjusted to provide appropriate information (if necessary - not in this case). Fictional characters go - this game is about real people. I am keeping a file of them, in case a decision is ever made in the future to restore them.

Can't the fictionals be turned around as answers to who the author was if that author doesn't have an entry? Sorry if I missed that that is the standard practice.
Thanks for the extra work of building a file on the "gone but not forgotten"s.

Authors have entries, but it usually lists the book title, not the name of one of their characters.

Some authors, especially mystery writers, are better known for the name of their character than the names of their books. Just an observation.

Of course - and that's how they would be identified, especially for authors whose books have different titles when published in different countries. The point is that the names are those of real people, with enough information to allow players to identify them. Not just "English mystery writer", but "English mystery writer; created Hercule Poirot & Jane Marple", for example. But an entry for Hercule Poirot as "fictional Belgian detective created by Agatha Christie" would be deleted.

Once you have enough names accumulated, it might be interesting to have a subsidiary game, Who Am I (fictional). Of course, you could go crazy with the 100K names of characters from TV shows and movies. I wouldn't know one name from Upstairs, Downstairs, but apparently the show had a huge following and a hundred different characters milling about. Still, I think Sherlock Holmes is important enough to merit his own game.

Martha J Coston - her description needs rewording as her name appears in the thing she invented, which is part of it.
