I didn't know an Indian was in the fray Wanted to pick Shiv Kapur, but was too late as the Open kicked off by the time I realised...horrible to ask now, but can I have him instead of Hanson in my team??? Would understand if it's not possible...

1. paper_aero 2. Sypher 3. gtho4
*- gtho4 won a 3-way playoff with his fifth golfer (Jason Day) shooting 293, while PaulE’s fifth golfer (Luke Donald) missed the cut for a 304, and srini701’s fifth golfer (Peter Hanson) withdrew. For scoring purposes, srini’s ‘fifth golfer in spirit’ (Shiv Kapur) was not included.
At one point, Phil Mickelson was the greatest player to not have won a major tournament. After Sunday, he was behind only Tiger Woods (by 1) for most major championships in the last 9 years. With a masterful final round 66 after entering the day down 5 strokes to 54-hole leader Lee Westwood, Lefty powered his way to a 3-stroke victory over Henrik Stenson, the only two players not over par for the tournament.
Four of the top five finishers picked Mickelson in their group, but paper_aero also took Lee Westwood (T3), Tiger Woods (T6), and Sergio Garcia (T21) to earn a 1-stroke victory over Sypher, who had the same top 3 but his fourth golfer, Ernie Els, finished a stroke behind Sergio. Congratulations!
There was a 3-way tie for third, broken by gtho4’s fifth golfer Jason Day, who finished with a 293. The two behind him were PaulE and srini701, who chose Luke Donald (304, missed the cut) and Peter Hanson (withdrew), respectively. srini would have finished tied for fourth had Shiv Kapur been included as the official fifth golfer with a 299.
Through 54 holes, the Open Championship was Lee Westwood’s to lose, and lose it he did. He did not hit a single fairway on the front 9, and finished +4 on the day, although his day was over several holes because he actually finished. That is because Phil Mickelson, several groups ahead of Westwood, hit #13 at +1 and went on a tear. He birdied #13 and 14, had a putt at eagle on #17 (got birdie), and finished with a dagger birdie putt on #18. At that time, he had a 2-stroke lead over Adam Scott and Westwood, but Westwood would bogey #13 shortly thereafter and Scott bogeyed #13-16 to both fall out of contention.
The other two main golfers who had a chance were Henrik Stenson and Ian Poulter. Poulter was well ahead of even Mickelson, going into Sunday 8 strokes back. After an eagle on #9 and birdies on #10-12, he sat at even par, which appeared could be in play with the leaderboard falling back. A bogey on #16 put him back to +1, but he was taken out of play with Mickelson’s run. Stenson was -1 after 11, but bogeys on #12 and 13 put him over par and a birdie on #17 could not help him threaten Mickelson.
Does anyone fear Tiger anymore? Tiger Woods was -1 and 2 strokes back after Saturday, and started Sunday with three bogeys in the first six holes. The rest of the round finished even par (three birdies and bogeys), but was never a threat coming down the stretch. He finished tied for sixth.
Another major goes by, and now only one remains for 2013: the PGA Championship on August 8-11 at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, NY. Hope to see you there!

Three of the usual suspects on the podium. Congrats to all of you, and a great writeup from illiniman.
