This weeks Pet of the Week is Billsgyrl's Dog Johann!

Billysgyrl, here's your baby Johann. Do you have any stories to share about Johann, or any tips for dog owners?

Yes, I have a tip, PLEASE do not give your dog chocolate, it is highly toxic to dogs. One year when Johann was a puppy( he is now 7 years old) I had Easter candy on the floor in it's original wrapper (heavy plastic),he some how chewed his way thru to the chocolate, well I came home and he had eaten a solid chocolate bunny. I went hysterical thinking he was going to die or have a heartattack, I called the vet and they told me to give him hydrogen peroxide. (sp?) That did the trick, he vomited for about 20 minutes, and he was just fine.

And yes JoJo, he is my baby. He has his own bed, but sleeps with Bill and I under the covers at our feet. He also has his own comforter, he uses that when we leave him for an evening out.
He is very spoiled.

We have our couch sitting in front of our picture window so, Johann sits on top of the couch so he can see what is going on outside, well every day when the mail carrier comes he attacks the window trying to get at the mail carrier who do not expect this sudden barking and jumping at the window, it scares the hell out of the mailcarrier. Johann does not like the mail carrier or anyone in uniform.

I'd say that Johann is living the good life. He is a cutie pie I must say.

Thanks for the great tip. Here is a little tip of my own. If you are thinking about getting a new dog, you might consider adopting one that is an adult from a shelter. Although puppies are adorable, they need a lot of training and attention. If you buy an older dog, you could get one that is already house broken (good news for your carpet), and one that has already gone through the teething stage (good news for all your slippers). LOL! Animals who have been adopted from a shelter always seem to know that you rescued them and tend to be some of the most dedicated loving pets around.
