If you're like me, you collect seashells whenever you go to the beach. For the longest time, I just kept them in a box, then I displayed them in a large glass bowl. Now I am starting to decorate with them. Here are a few tips on what you can do with the seashells that you have collected over the years.

As far as decorating elements go, seashells are not just for the bathroom. Seashells make lovely enhancements to any space within your home. Consider hot-gluing shells to lampshades or lamp bases for an interesting lighting option. Hot-glue shells to ordinary picture frames or mirrors. Embellish terracotta pots with unusual shells and use the pots to store hair accessories, toothbrushes, or pens and pencils. Complement exciting seashell themes with stenciled shell borders or shell wallpaper borders. Or simply showcase your shells in a shallow wicker tray or basket.

Do you have any tips to add? I am always looking for more ideas. Thanks.

JoJo2-Living in a coastal resort community which thrives on tourism and souveniers I can tell you one thing...Don't over do it when being crafty with shells. You can end up with a really tacky piece of work if you're not careful.

As far as project with shells, I've seen shells on wreaths, planters, mirrors, napkin rings, jewelry, baskets, wind chimes, Christmas ornaments, candle holders...just about anything you can imagine.

The worst thing I think I've seen is seashell animals...I can't even describe how they form those shells in to everthing from frogs and turtles to elephants and giraffes. It is sad.

Edited for spelling...but I think I still missed some mistakes. My cold medicine is kicking in.

LOL! CarolinaCarol, when I lived in New Jersey, I bought some of those shell animals. I think I had a bear and I can't remember what else. I don't know what I ever did with them, because I haven't seem them in years. I must have sold them at a garage sale. I hope you get over your cold soon hon.
