Margred Morgan was fifteen when she had Myles. At the beginning of the book, he has no clue who his father is.
2. What is the name of the man whose estate Myles and his mother live on at the beginning of the book?

Answer: Ianto Motshill

Ianto Motshill is a cruel man who views his serfs as property. In desperation, Myles and Margred flee the estate in search of work elsewhere.
3. At the beginning of the book, when Myles and his mother decided to flee the estate, they decided to go to England. Where do they start out from?

Answer: Wales

Because she was pregnant with an engaged man's child, she went to Wales, in order to save him from disgrace.
4. In which year does the book start?

It starts out when Myles is six years old and his mother is twenty-one.

God tells Margred in a dream to go to the Severn River, where she will find safety. Having amazing faith, she obeys.
6. Who turns out to be Myles' father?

Answer: Sir Robert Wakefield

After Margred dies of the sweating sickness when Myles is sixteen, Sir Robert, who was previously unknown to Myles, takes him in to live with him. Myles has a hard time adjusting to life living with nobility, especially as he has never met his father before, but gradually he learns how to act and behave.
7. Who does Myles marry?

Answer: Hannah

Myles has known Hannah since he was eleven, but he never thought of her as more than a friend, at least consciously. Not until he was twenty-three did he truly realize the depth of his feelings for her.
8. What is the name of the person who personally plants English Bibles in Myles' father's basement, in order to get him arrested for heresy?

Answer: Jacob Isen

At that time, only the priests, monks, and other church leaders were allowed to read the Bible, and when they read it to the common people, it was in Latin. Thus, the people didn't know what it said. They had to trust that what the Church told them about the Bible was true.

This gave the Pope all kinds of unmerited power. Not until William Tyndale translated the Bible into the common language could the people know what it really said for themselves.
9. The first time Myles smuggles Bibles to England for William Tyndale, what does he hide the Bibles in?

Answer: Bales of cloth

Myles made several trips to smuggle Bibles into England, disguising himself differently every time.
10. What do Myles and his wife name their son?

Answer: William

They named him after Myles' hero, William Tyndale. Interestingly enough, this book was published by Tyndale House. Thanks for playing my quiz. Please rate it!
