1. "You can trust your car to the man who wears the star."

Answer: Texaco

The symbol for Texaco was a large red star, inside a circle, with a green T on the star and the word Texaco across the upper one third of the circle. This same star was on a patch on the attendants' uniforms. This ad campaign is credited to Benton & Bowles in the 1940s.
2. What does "L.S.M.F.T" mean?

Answer: Lucky Strike Means Fine Tobacco

Lucky Strike cigarettes used the L.S.M.F.T slogan in the early 50s. One ad also boasted the phrase "Be happy, go Lucky."
3. "It's like having a borgasmord."

Answer: Underwood Deviled Ham

This line was spoken in an Underwood Deviled Ham commercial by child actor Mason Reese. Reese was born in 1965 and this commercial appeared in the early 1970s, making Reese between age five and ten. He was an over weight child who spoke with a lisp.
4. "Drink a bite to eat at 10, 2 and 4"

Answer: Dr. Pepper

The Dr. Pepper bottles from the 1950s had a white circle with red 10, 2, and 4 like on a clock's face. Dr Pepper was the first major soft drink introduced in the U.S.
5. "Run faster, jump higher"

Answer: PF Flyers

PF Flyers were first manufactured by BF Goodrich in the 1930s. They became popular in the 1950s and 60s, but have faded into the background since then. The PF stood for Posture Foundation technology which was caused by a wedge in the insole.
6. "Mama mia, that's a spicy meat-a ball"

Answer: Alka-Seltzer

This TV slogan used the voice of Jack Somack. This was one of six different memorable ad slogans used by Alka-Seltzer. The other slogans were: "Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, Oh what a relief it is!", "Plink, Plink, Fizz, Fizz", "I can't believe I ate the whole thing." and "Try it, you'll like it."
7. "A little dab'll do ya."

Answer: Brylcreem

The Brylcreem commercial was created in the 1950s by Kenyon and Eckhardt. This ad campaign featured their jingle, "Brylcreem, a little dab'll do ya/Brylcreem, you'll look so debonair!/Brylcreem, the gals'll all pursue ya!/They'll love to run their fingers through your hair."
8. "Who put eight great tomatoes in that itty-bitty can?"

Answer: Contadina

In this commercial for Contadina Tomato Paste, you saw whole, ripe tomatoes being sucked into a Contadina Tomato Paste can, one at a time. Simultaneously you heard someone singing the jingle, "Who put eight great tomatoes in that itty-bitty can? CON-tadina, CON-tadina!" Today Contadina uses this slogan, which is a registered trademark: "The freshest ideas in Italian cooking!"
9. "Take it off, take it all off."

Answer: Noxzema Shave Cream

In 1966 the William Esty Advertising Agency created this memorable ad campaign. The commercial showed a sexy woman while you heard the slogan "Take it off, take it all off! -- The closer you shave, the more you need Noxzema." and you heard a band playing the song usually associated with striptease acts performed by Gypsy Rose Lee.
10. "From the land of sky blue waters."

Answer: Hamm's Beer

Hamm's Beer started the "From the land of sky blue waters" in the 1950s. The campaign was the brain child of Campbell-Mithun Advertising. The TV commercial was animated showing a bear dancing around a lake while the "Sky Blue Waters" jingle played in the background. A little known fact is the bear's name, which was never mentioned on the commercials, was Sascha. The Theo Hamm Brewing Co. also used the slogan "A beer is a beer is a beer until you've tasted Hamm's".
