Answer: New Zealand

Regarded as the youngest country on the planet, New Zealand is simply an amazing country. Home to the Maori people, Aoetearoa (as it is known in the Maori language) consists of two main islands - the North and South Island. Its position in the Pacific Ocean makes it somewhat remote, with Australia being approximately 2000km away to the northwest. New Zealanders are often referred to as Kiwis, which pays homage to the Kiwi, a flightless bird that iconic of the nation.

Answer: South Korea

If sightseeing is your thing, then South Korea certainly has some spectacular sights (say that five times fast!). Wolchulsan National Park offers some great views, particularly while you are on a bridge suspended between two ridges high in the air. If you prefer the hustle and bustle of inner city life, then Seoul has a lot to offer. Markets all over the city present diverse shopping and eating opportunities, and the lush greenery coupled with the nearby Han River make this city, and indeed the country, a must-visit place for anyone.

Answer: India

The familiar "pointy bit" of Asia, India has one of the highest populations in the world. Originally colonised by the United Kingdom, India gained independence in 1947 and established itself as a powerhouse democracy. India has a diverse culture, with some iconic landmarks, such as the UNESCO-recognised Taj Mahal, as well as a rich sporting background, with the national sport being field hockey, despite cricket being the most popular.
4. How about visiting what used to be Constantinople in this country that sits in both Europe and Asia? Is this the type of place you'd like to go? Perhaps a visit to the Dolmabahçe Palace would please you? Please say you'll be there. Do you know where I'm travelling to this time?

Answer: Turkey

Yes, the next stop on my journey is Turkey, the country with a bird name. The western part of Turkey is located in the Balkan region of Europe, and the eastern part is situated across the Anatolian Peninsula. The largest city, Istanbul, was previously called Byzantium (named for King Byzas in 667 BC) and Constantinople (named for Constantine the Great in 330 AD).

Despite being the largest city and economic centre of the country, Istanbul is not the capital city - Ankara is.
5. Ah, now, if none of those countries appeal to you, perhaps this one will. I'm staying in a beautiful city situated on the banks of the Vltava River. Science buffs will know that the modern contact lens was invented in this country. It really is a lovely place. Please say you'll be there. Which country serves as the fifth destination on my holiday?

Answer: Czech Republic

The Czech Republic is easily one of my favourite countries, due to its stunning beauty and fascinating sights. It is also among the most visited destinations for tourists. Prague is the centre of activity in the Czech Republic, with some amazing things to see and visit, including the Charles Bridge and the picturesque Prague Castle.
6. I have some funds to deposit at a famous landlocked country's bank, so you can meet me there, and we'll have a great time, listening to alphorn concerts and, oh, I think we might be there in time for the Montreux Jazz Festival! Oh, say you'll be there! Can you identify which country I'm planning on visiting?

Answer: Switzerland

Regarded as the "neutral" country, Switzerland contains the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee, the Red Cross and the World Trade Organisation to name a few. Like other countries, the capital city, Bern, is not the biggest city - that title goes to Zürich. Switzerland has played host to the Winter Olympics twice, in 1928 and 1948.

The Games were held at St. Moritz both years. Speaking of sports, champion tennis player Roger Federer hails from this country. And while we're on the topic of famous things to come out of Switzerland, I might mention one of my favourite chocolates - Toblerone.
7. Prefer the heat? Then maybe you'd like to join me in this African country, with a city that shares its name with a Humphrey Bogart film. We can go and visit the famous markets in Marrakech. I'd be awfully sad if you didn't come. Please say you'll be there. Which of these countries matches my description?

Answer: Morocco

Located in north-western Africa, along the Atlantic Ocean, is Morocco, a country known for its rich culture and diversity. Part of the Sahara is located in this country, and as such is under the administration of the Moroccan government. An extensive range of cuisine gives Morocco the title of having one of the most diversified cuisines in the world. Couscous is perhaps the most famous of the Moroccan foods, with it being regarded as a staple food.

The markets in Marrakech are the largest in Morocco, attracting tourists from all over the world.
8. We could try somewhere in the east of Africa - see part of the Serengeti, visit the Maasai Mara, and frolic with the giraffes at the Giraffe Centre. Who could turn down frolicking with giraffes? Please say you'll be there. Any idea as to where I'm headed?

Answer: Kenya

Named after the second highest mountain in Africa and once ruled by the United Kingdom, Kenya is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, and vast scenery. The capital city, Nairobi, offers many places for accommodation, and if you're hungry, many restaurants that serve some exotic foods, like monkey and antelope! Numerous safari parks around Kenya offer tourists the chance to see the wild animals of Africa in their natural habitats, like lions, cheetahs, rhinoceroses and hippopotami.

The Serengeti, while mainly in Tanzania, also stretches into Kenya.

Some of the world's best athletes, including Henry Rono, breaker of four world records in 1978, are from Kenya.
9. I'm going to visit the country that Paddington Bear claims to come from, so you can meet me there. The ruins of Machu Picchu await us, and we can visit the city that represents L in the NATO phonetic alphabet. Please say you'll be there. Where in the world am I going this time?

Answer: Peru

Ever wondered where the tomato comes from? Well, now you have an answer: Peru. This South American country is an ancient historian's paradise. The remains of several civilisations can be found in and around Peru, especially Machu Picchu, high in the Andes mountains.

The alpaca, cousin of the llama, comes from Peru, as does the Paso horse, which has a peculiar gait, where it throws its feet out to the side instead of in front. Major exports include silver, copper, lead and zinc, plus four important cereals - quinoa, maize, kiwicha and cañihua.

This country, once part of the Inca Empire, is certainly a place to visit for travellers wanting to experience South America.
10. All this travelling will be exhausting, so my final destination will be in the Caribbean. We can relax at Cayo Largo del Sur, and eat a traditional meal of ropa vieja. It'll be fantastic! Please say you'll be there. Which country is the final stop on my cross-continental journey?

Answer: Cuba

Cuba is the seventeenth largest island in the world, and the most populous country in the Caribbean. It was sighted in 1492 by Christopher Columbus during his voyage, but it was Diego Velasquez who colonised it for Spain. You'll be Havana good time in the country's capital, seeing the grand architecture and being a part of the many festivals that take place in the city. Excite your taste buds with a traditional dish of ropa vieja (shredded steak in a tomato sauce) or some tamales. If you want to work on the tan or go for a swim, Cuba offers some stunning beaches, which attract hundreds of thousands of people each year.
