Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. When Ned arrives at King's Landing with Sansa and Arya, he's accompanied by two adults. One is Jory Cassel, the other is a female. Do you remember who she is?

Answer: Septa Mordane

Septa Mordane is the caretaker for the girls, more like a mollycoddle or a nanny if you will. She's supposed to watch after Sansa and Arya when Ned and Cat have important business elsewhere.
2. At Ned's first meeting with the King's council, we meet a few new characters. Grand Maester Pycelle, Lord Varys the Eunuch, Lord Peytr Baelish and Lord Renly. Lord Renly has a famous relation. Who is Lord Renly related to?

Answer: Robert Baratheon

Lord Renly is King Robert Baratheon's younger brother. They also had another brother, Stannis, who is second in line to take the Iron Throne in case something happens to Robert.
3. Up north at Castle Black, Jon has arrived at The Wall and has Taken the Black to become a man of the Night's Watch. He is accompanied by Uncle Benjen Stark and one other. Who is the other?

Answer: Tyrion Lannister

Tyrion is one of the escorts to bring Jon to The Wall along with his Uncle Benjen. When Jon is training with the other new recruits, he proves himself better than the others. You would be too if Rodrick Cassel was your Master At Arms.
4. When Arya is sent to her room after arguing with Sansa about her and Joffrey being liars, Ned discovers her sword for the first time. Ned recognises the craftsmanship of the sword. Who does he say wrought 'Needle' for Arya?

Answer: Mikken

Mikken's mark is on the blade, which is how Ned recognises his work. He is the swordsmith at Winterfell and has forged many of the best weapons for Ned's Banner Men.
5. Old Nan is telling the now wakened Bran stories. He tells her that he loves her scary ones. She tells her sweet Summer Child the story of when the White Walkers first appeared. They had "Pale beasts, big as hounds". What type of pale beasts did the White Walkers use?

Answer: Spiders

Nan apparently wants to make sure that Bran's story is as scary as possible which is what Bran loves to hear. We can see both the fright and interest on Bran's beautiful face as Nan is telling him the story.
Nan's quote: "In that darkness the White Walkers came for the first time. They swept through cities and kingdoms, riding their dead horses, hunting with their packs of pale spiders big as hounds."
6. Cat and Rodrick arrive at King's Landing and they meet up with Lord Baelish. Unhappy to meet with him in a brothel, Cat takes Peytr down verbally. She is also re-united with Lord Varys. He asks to see the dagger used in the attempt on Bran's life but only Baelish knows whose blade it was. Whose is the blade currently?

Answer: Tyrion Lannister

Originally, it was owned by Lord Baelish. He bet on Jamie to win the joust for Joffrey's latest Nameday. When the Knight of Flowers unseated Jamie he lost the dagger in a wager to Tyrion Lannister.
7. Robert Baratheon does not appear in this episode.

Answer: False

Robert has one small scene where he's trading death stories with one of his knights of the King's Guard, Ser Barristan Selmy. They talk about their first kills, the ones they remember the most.
8. As Robert is talking to Ser Barristan about a favourite subject, there is another Lannister in the room who is his wine steward. Do you recall the name of this Lannister?

Answer: Lancel Lannister

Lancel is cousin to Jamie, who is also known as the Kingslayer, a nickname he doesn't like. Robert thinks Lancel has a stupid first name and was named by someone with a stutter. Apparently, he loves to push poor Lancel around.
9. Arya arrives late for her sword lesson. According to her Dancing Master she's not that great with the sword at first and teaches her a proper grip and learns the sword's name. What is her Dancing Master's name and where is he from?

Answer: Syrio Forel from Braavos

Syrio Forel is from a far distant island, Braavos, which is not in Westeros. He's an expert swordsman and will teach Arya everything he knows about sword fighting and that the master only needs to use one hand.
10. When Arya is trained by Syrio Forel, she is visited by someone in her family who watches her and hears the sounds of a past battle in his head. Which member of her family watches Arya?

Answer: Eddard Stark

Ned stands in the doorway watching as Arya is training with the Braavosi swordsman. At first he smiles at how she's doing, which is not so well, and then he hears the sounds of battles in his head.
