1. Thailand has held its capital at four different sites since the 13th century. Where was the first capital established?

Answer: Sukhothai

Ayutthaya was the second capital from the 14th century until 1767. Thonburi was the capital from 1767 until 1782 when it was combined with Rattanakosin as Krung Thep, the Thai name for Bangkok. Bangkok has been the capital of Thailand since 1782.
2. During the Vietnam war this landlocked country was the most heavily bombed country, per capita.

Answer: Laos

Laos is bordered to the north by China, to the south by Cambodia, to the east by Vietnam, and to the west by Thailand and Myanmar (Burma).
More ordnance was dropped on Laos than was dropped during WW2. It is estimated some 260 million bombs were dropped, 25% of which failed to detonate.

The magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda with its gilded stupas, numerous temples, statues and relics is believed to be around 2,500 years old.

Answer: Krakatau

Krakatau erupted in 1883. The final cataclysmic explosion in which the entire volcano was totally destroyed was heard over 3000 miles away. 'Anak Krakatau' (Son of Krakatau) has emerged from beneath the waves and as of 2012 stands at approximately 800m. It continues to grow at a rate of a few metres per year.

Bandar Seri Begawan is the capital of Brunei. Borneo is shared by Brunei, Malaysia and Indonesia. Historically covered in dense tropical rainforest, it is home to the orangutan and many other endangered species.
