Helen Wills Moody (USA) was the first to win eight Ladies' singles titles (1927-30, 1932-33, 1935 and 1938). Martina Navratilova (USA) however, has won the Ladies singles title nine times (1978-79, 1982-1987 and 1990). Dorothea Lambert Chambers (UK) won the Ladies' singles titles on 7 occasions (1903-4, 1906, 1910-11 and 1913-14). Steffi Graf (GER) also won the Ladies' singles title on 7 occasions (1988-89, 1991-93, 1995-96).

Martina was 16 yrs when she won her only singles title in 1997 and was seeded number 1.

Answer: A hawk

Rufus is the name of the hawk that is despatched each day to deter and scare any pigeons from landing or dropping their business on the Wimbledon courts. He scours the sky for pidgeons but does not attack them, but to purely keep them out of the area. Rufus has been part of the Wimbledon family for 15 years, taking the place of the previous hawk, Hamish. The grass on all the courts at Wimbledon is a 100% perennial rye grass. During the event the grass is cut daily to a height of 8mm. They use roller lawnmowers and mow in stripes to create the patterns.
