There had been teams playing in Lincoln since at least the 1860s but it took until 1883 for the official formation of Lincoln City.

2. Lincoln City were one of the 12 founder members of the Second Division. What season did the Second Division start?

Answer: 1892-93

The other eleven founder members were: Small Heath (now Birmingham City), Sheffield United, Darwen, Grimsby, Ardwick (now Manchester City), Burton Swifts, Northwich Victoria, Bootle, Crewe Aalexandra, Burslem Port Vale and Walsall Town Swifts.
