"A Teenage Opera" was commissioned by EMI as a series of songs based in a fantasy village. "Grocer Jack" was the first song to be released, followed by "Sam", which didn't do so well. EMI then cancelled the project. Producer Mark Wirtz continued with it on his own, and a CD of the completed work was finally released in 1996.

Blackadder's reply is that the guns have stopped because they are about to attack, and "Not even our generals are mad enough to shell their own men. They think it's far more sporting to let the Germans do it.". Lord Melchett of course was at HQ, well out of reach of the fighting.

"Midnight Cowboy" was the first (and only) X-rated film to win an Academy Award (in fact it won three - Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay). I was only a child when I saw the film and the scene where poor Mij gets whacked with a spade left me utterly traumatised. At least in "Old Yeller" there was some warning of what was coming! Incidentally, the beautiful theme song from "Ring of Bright Water" was performed by Val Doonican.

Both Black Beauty and Ginger have come down in the world since they first shared a home together. However, while Black Beauty at this stage has a kindly owner, Ginger has been passed from one cruel owner to another and hasn't been treated very well. Her health, looks and spirit have gone. Shortly after their meeting Black Beauty sees a dead horse being transported on the back of a cart. The horse strongly resembles Ginger, and Black Beauty fervently hopes it is because it means she is no longer suffering.
