Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What spell, beginning with "A", can be used to prevent choking?

Answer: Anapneo

The spell "Anapneo" can clear a person's airway, if blocked. It was used by Professor Horace Slughorn on a student named Marcus Belby, in the book "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince", who had eaten too much food at once. The spell "Accio" can be used to summon something while "Avis" conjures a flock of birds from the wand of the caster.
2. Beginning with "B", what spell/charm can help breathe underwater?

Answer: Bubble-Head Charm

The Bubble-Head Charm can supply air to a person, and can be used for breathing underwater. In the film "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" it was shown that this charm creates a bubble of air around the mouth and nose of the caster. Both Cedric Diggory and Fleur Delacour used this charm to compete in the Second Task of the Triwizard Tournament.
3. Which of these is a spell that can be used to confuse someone severely?

Answer: Confundo

The spell "Confundo" is also known as the Confundus Charm. It can produce varying degrees of confusion, ranging from simply tricking a person to manipulating someone's mind completely. This spell was used by Harry Potter in the book "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" on two Gringotts guards so that he could enter Gringotts undetected. It was also used by Hermione on Cormac Mclaggen.
4. Starting with "D", what spell/hex can cause the target's front two teeth to enlarge rapidly?

Answer: Densaugeo

The spell "Densaugeo" can rapidly enlarge the target's front two teeth. It was used in the book "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" by Draco on Harry; however, his spell collided midway with Harry's spell and hit Hermione instead. This spell was also used by Ted Tonks in the book "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" to regrow Harry's missing tooth.
5. Which "E" word is the counter spell to "Reducio"?

Answer: Engorgio

The spell "Engorgio" can enlarge an object, while "Reducio" shrinks it. Barty Crouch, Jr., while in the guise of Alastor Moody, used this spell to enlarge three spiders on whom he later performed the three Unforgivable Curses. Harry also used this spell on a spider in the book "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" to check if his newly acquired Blackthorn wand was working effectively.
6. Which jinx/spell starting with "F" can cause the target to break into boils?

Answer: Furnunculus

The spell "Furnunculus" can cause the target to break into boils. This spell was accidentally used by Harry on Goyle in the book "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", though his intended target was Draco. He later used it on Crabbe, who was also hit with George Weasley's Jelly-Legs Jinx. This caused Crabbe to sprout little tentacles on his face.
7. What incantation, starting with "G", can be used to make one or several copies of an object?

Answer: Geminio

The incantation of the spell is "Geminio" while the curse is called "Gemino". It was used by Hermione in the book "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" to make a copy of Salazar Slytherin's locket, which was also a Horcrux. It was also used in combination with the Flagrante curse as a precaution in the Lestrange vault of Gringotts.
8. Skipping "H", we come to "I". What spell can be used to conjure ropes and bind someone?

Answer: Incarcerous

The spell "Incarcerous" conjures ropes to bind the enemy. It was first used by Dolores Umbridge against the Centaurs in the book "Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix". Harry used this spell to try and defend himself and Professor Dumbledore against the army of Inferi in the Horcrux cave in the book "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince". "Impedimenta" is a very useful duelling spell.
9. Skipping "J" and "K", we come to "L". What spell can be used to prevent someone from moving by binding their legs?

Answer: Locomotor Mortis

The spell "Locomotor Mortis" can bind the target's legs together. It is also known as the Trip Jinx. It was used by Draco on Harry in the book "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" while he was escaping from the Room of Requirements. The spell "Locomotor" can also be used followed by the name of an object, like, "Locomotor Trunk".

It can then be used to levitate and carry the object.
10. Finally, we come to "M". Which spell can be used to conjure the Dark Mark?

Answer: Morsmordre

The spell "Morsmordre" can be used to conjure the Dark Mark. It was used by Barty Crouch, Jr. after the final match of the Quidditch World Cup in 1994. The spell "Meteolojinx Recanto" was once mentioned by Arthur Weasley. He advised Ron (who was polyjuiced at that time) to use it to stop the rainfall at Yaxley's office.
