1. Who is Yambe-Akka, according to Serafina Pekkala?

Answer: Goddess of the dead

Serafina Pekkala tells Lee Scoresby that there is a prophecy about Lyra. She is destined to bring about the end of destiny. But Lyra must do so without knowing. If Iorek had not been exiled from the bears, he would be their king by now. The present king of the bears is Iofur Raknison. The balloon is attacked by cliff-ghast and Lyra is taken prisoner.
2. What do bears wear in their helmets in Svalbard?

Answer: Plumes

Lyra is taken to the palace of Iofur Raknison and kept prisoner. An old professor, Professor Santella, who used to work at the University of Gloucester, is also being held prisoner.
3. Who is the Palmerian professor at Jordan Collage?

Answer: Trelawney

All surnames mentions are also Professors (or have been) in the "Harry Potter" series, created by J. K. Rowling. Professor Santella does not think highly of Professor Trelawney. Santella gives Lyra a little information on Iofur Raknison. Iofur has got Lord Asriel prisoner under the Oblation Board orders.
4. What does Iofur Raknison want more than anything else?

Answer: A daemon

When Lyra finally meets Iofur Raknison, she declares that she is Iorek Brynison's daemon. She would like to be Iofur's daemon but he must defeat Iorek in single combat. Lyra learns from the alethiometer that Iofur killed his father when he was young.

Answer: Iorek Brynison

Iorek turns up at the palace of Iofur Raknison. He and Iofur battle together and Iorek manage to defeat the king of the bears. He is crowned the new king.

Lyra learns that Mrs Coulter drugged the bear that Iorek killed, when he was exiled from the bears. Mrs Coulter is desperate for the alethiometer, but Lord Asriel also needs it for an experiment. Iorek and Roger accompany Lyra to Lord Asriel.
7. Who is Lord Asriel's manservant?

Answer: Thorold

Lord Asriel, although a prisoner at Svalbard, has set up his own laboratory. He seems horrified at the sight of Lyra, but relaxes a little when he sees that Roger is with her. Lyra has a long discussion with her father.
8. What book of the bible is the story of Adam and Eve in?

Answer: Genesis

Lord Asriel tells Lyra that Dust is also called original sin by the church. Dust makes the alethiometer work. Lord Asriel wants to see the other universes in the Aurora. He plans to destroy original sin, death is going to die. Lord Asriel tells Lyra she can keep the alethiometer.
9. What do the witches attack Iorek Brynison and Lyra with?

Answer: Arrows

When Lyra wakes the next days, she learns that Lord Asriel has left Svalbard, with Roger. Thorold, Lord Asriel's manservant, tells her that Lord Asriel needs a chid to complete his experiment. Lyra is distraught. She thought she was saving Roger, but really she was betraying him. Lyra and Iorek follow Lord Asriel and Roger.

The Aurora is brilliant. But they are chased by witches - and not Serafina Pekkala's witches either. There is a bridge what Lord Asriel and Roger have gone over. Lyra follows them, alone.
10. Who is killed at the end of the book?

Answer: Roger

Lyra sees all the other cities in the Aurora. Lord Asriel talks with Mrs Coulter. Her first name is Marisa. He tries to persuade her to come with him into the other world. Lyra witnesses Roger being killed. Then she and Pantalaimon walk into the other world to find Dust.
