Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Anthony Burgess, who wrote "A Clockwork Orange", was also an accomplished what?

Answer: Composer

He was a very good musician and composed over 250 musical works including a number of preludes, including "A Manchester Overture", "The Waste Land" and "Brides of Enderby".
John Anthony Burgess Wilson wrote many novels like "Enterby", "The Right to Answer", "Nothing Like the Sun" and "Any Old Iron".
2. How many chapters are there in the original UK edition "A Clockwork Orange"?

Answer: 21

The book consisted of three sections, each section having seven chapters. In the 1986 introduction of the book Burgess wrote: "21 is the symbol of human maturity, or used to be, since at 21 you got the vote and assumed adult responsibility." When the book was written in 1962 the legal age of majority in the UK was 21, before this was changed to 18 in 1969.

The first version published in the United States omitted the last chapter, as it was felt to be unrealistic and publishers felt their audience would not accept it. That version had only 20 chapters.
