Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who did Prevlov suspect was behind the plot to trap him?

Answer: Margonian

After the shootout with Fergus's men, Prevlov had some time to reflect on where he was at. He then suspected Margonian was slowly trying to draw him into a trap. He would later learn that Margonian was actually a double for the real one, and that this one was working for the United States CIA.
2. Admiral Kemper had received a message about Dana. What did it state?

Answer: she was alive and well

As Kemper and the President were awaiting word from the Titanic, Kemper received some good news that Dana was alive and well and that she was onboard the Titanic.
3. What was the name of the US submarine in charge of protecting the Titanic?

Answer: Dragonfish

The US submarine which Kemper had sent to protect the Titanic was called the Dragonfish. She sent out a message to the Mikail Korkov, a supposed Russian marine research vessel, and ordered her not to fire on the Titanic in order to avoid repercussions for their actions. Perotkin wisely backed off.
4. What did the submarine crew provide for the crew of the Titanic?

Answer: fuel for pumps

The USS Dragonfish realized the Titanic needed assistance. The Titanic was requesting fuel from the sub's diesel engines to keep the pumps going. Spencer said he could keep the ship afloat for as long as possible if he had about 200 gallons of diesel to run the pumps. Otherwise, he could only keep her afloat for about two hours or so. Sound vaguely familiar?
5. Who visited Prevlov onboard the Titanic after his being taken into custody by Pitt?

Answer: Warren Nicholson

After Kemper had read the coded message to the group in his office, Nicholson, who was with the CIA, requested to get onboard the Titanic as quickly as possible. He was then escorted into a cabin onboard the ship where he met with Prevlov, and gave him an offer that eventually Prevlov could not refuse.
6. What was Prevlov offered by the CIA?

Answer: defection to the US

Nicholson said that Prevlov could be set free if he wanted to be, but that the KGB would already have him on their liquidation list. He also offered that Prevlov could have his appearance altered and could learn many of the ways of the US including such things as sports, music, and other things related to the US and its history. Prevlov was also offered $40,000 per year and a car for the rest of his life.

A very subdued Prevlov opted to go for the life of luxury rather than the life of fear.
7. Where was the Titanic towed to?

Answer: New York

The Titanic was eventually towed to the Brooklyn Navy Yards in New York. Since she was a ship coming to port on her maiden voyage, a captain of one of the fireboats blew his whistle along with several other ships, cars, and freighters. Everyone was cheering when the derelict was towed down the channel to the navy yards.
8. What hotel did Pitt tell the cab driver to take him to?

Answer: Pierre

Pitt had difficulty finding a cab at first. Everyone he ran across was staring at the Titanic when she finally was making port. When a cab driver asked him where he wanted to go, Pitt asked what the most expensive hotel was. Because of Pitt's appearance, the cabbie wrinkled his nose, but took Pitt there anyhow.
9. Who helped Pitt with getting a room at the hotel?

Answer: Gene Seagram

The same as with the cab, Pitt had trouble convincing the hotel desk clerk to give him a room at the Pierre. Pitt tried not to give his real name out of fear that the press would be on him in a hurry. He tried to pass himself off as a professor and author. Finally, a familiar voice spoke up and said that he would vouch for the professor. Pitt turned and saw that it was Gene Seagram.
10. Whose face did Seagram see in the mirror of the bathroom?

Answer: Joshua Hayes Brewster

When Pitt and Seagram were talking about Seagram's mental state, Pitt opened the bathroom mirror and said for Seagram to stare at his own reflection. As Seagram stared in anger, Pitt saw his face change to horror and fear. Only Seagram saw the reflection of Brewster staring back at him through the mist.
