Answer: He's Lord of all the Mages in the City

Kellen's father is the Arch-Mage Lycaelon, who's also the Head of the High Council, and Lord of all the Mages in the City. Kellen, however, doesn't really care for all that magic.

2. Kellen finds three books at a small vendor in the City. What's the name of the first book he finds?

Answer: The Book of the Sun

The books look like journals, at first. They also disguise themselves as mere hearthside tales. Kellen's father finds them using a disillusionment spell, and then confronts Kellen with all the other Mages of the city.

3. Women are not allowed to become Mages in the City.

Answer: True

This is for several reasons, including that they are too flighty to learn anything of value. We learn this when Lycaelon, Kellen's father, has to remove all portions of the Mage-gift from a daughter of a wealthy merchant. Later, Kellen wonders if this is why women go for Wildmagic.

The writer Perulan didn't kill himself, a water golem did. It was sent by the Mages to dispose of a troublemaker who would disrupt the way of life for the City. Lycaelon couldn't believe that Perulan didn't get back to his life after Perulan's life work was destroyed because the Mages thought that it was too close to the truth.

Instead of going herself, Idalia knew that she had to be at Sentarshadeen to stop the rains from unleashing a torrential downpour that could destroy so much.

She sent Kellen, who went along with Shalkan and Jermayan to destroy the Barrier with the key-stone.
