Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Before jumping off the Tower, Red Jacket shouted one word, 'beasuent'. What does 'beasuent' mean?

Answer: 'Be glorious'

'Beausuent' was the battle cry of the Templars. Red Jacket committed suicide after Cotton trapped him on the roof and told Red Jacket the police were coming.
2. Who bought "Gravestones of Langueduc"?

Answer: Henrik Thorvaldsen

One of the richest men in Europe, Henrik was the mysterious call-in-bidder at the auction.
3. Who is Lars?

Answer: Stephanie's dead husband

Lars was found hung from a bridge with a note saying "Goodbye, Stephanie" in his pocket. Stephanie hates to think he committed suicide.
4. Which small village in Southern France is home to Suanire's domain and many of the clues?

Answer: Rennes le Cheatue

Abbey des Fontines is the Templar Base in the Pyrenees. Toledo is in Spain and Nice is also in France, but more to the East.
5. Who is the Sensachel?

Answer: Mark Nelle

It is an amazing point in the book! Mark is Stephanie's "dead" son. She thought he died in an avalanche in the Pyrennes while continuing his father's legacy. He actually was found by the Templars at Abbey des Fontaines and quickly climbed the ranks.
6. Who is the rich Islamic woman who is running a huge medieval castle construction site?

Answer: Cassiopeia Vitt

I made up Mary Vitt and Vittsy Mon. The castle construction is very amazing! The workers must wear medieval style clothes and use the same methods of construction that were used in the middle ages. Cassiopeia also saved Cotton Malone in Denmark.
7. Which is NOT one of the 7, 9 clues found in The Church of Mary Magdalene?

Answer: a 7 by 9 tree arrangement

On the dice, 3+4=7. 4+5=9.

On the gravestone, 1+6=7. 8+1=9.

The pillar is upside down. Turn it right side up and 1891 is turned into 1681!
8. Who betrays Cotton's party by telling the location of the treasure to de Roquefort, only to be killed by de Roquefort?

Answer: Geoffrey

Sticking to the rules of the Order, Geoffrey obeys his master and led them to the treasure. They captured Henrik and threatened to kill him if the rest of the group did not come up from the underground chambers in one minute. When they were all up onto the entrance area, someone insulted Geoffrey, calling him a villainous traitor. De Roquefort replied "I think so, too", grabbed a handgun and kills him.
9. What is the lost Gospel found in the treasure room?

Answer: The Gospel of Simon

Since the book could cause world wide revolution, Cotton gave it to the Templars at the end of the book.
10. Throughout the book, you may wonder if instead of committing suicide, Lars was murdered by Raymond de Roquefort. Is it true?

Answer: No, but de Roquefort watched Lars commit suicide

Raymond watched Lars put the rope on his head from behind a bush. When Lars said "I see you in there" Raymond tried to stop Lars from committing suicide. Lars told Raymond that he could give him a clue that was not even in Lars's journel if he could hang himself, and Raymond agreed. Lars jotted the words "Goodbye, Stephanie" on a piece of paper, gave it to Raymond, and jumped from the bridge. Raymond thought it was a trick, so he pulled the dead body of Lars up and put the note in his pocket.

But it wasn't a trick! "Goodbye, Stephanie" was acually a clue! Goodbye- seven letters! Stephanie- nine letters!
