Mattie Wise was the wise woman who was accused of doing witchcraft and fled Kingsbridge because they were going to kill her. She made healing potions and helped a lot of people; the accusations were false.

Wulfric broke Ralph's nose because Ralph was harassing his fianc�, Annet. Annet didn't end up marrying Wulfric because he didn't inherit his father's lands when he died. She married someone else shortly after.
