Numbo and Chilk were two teens from the village who terrorized Bink. Numbo's talent was the illusion of fire while Chilk's was the creation of a wall (which while not an illusion only lasted for a few moments). Justin was a man who was converted into a tree by Trent and gave advice to the villagers, while Roland was Bink's father whose talent was a stun gaze.

Answer: the water transformed you into a fish

There are love springs, forgetfulness springs and healing springs in Xanth; however, this one was a transformation stream. Many years previously the evil Magician Trent, while attempting to take over the rule of Xanth, had changed all of the fish into lightning bugs in an attempt to impress the centaurs and cause them to support him in his endeavor.

The stream, in an attempt to restock itself, developed the power to transform anything that drank from it into a fish!

Answer: A Silver Oak Tree

He was hoping he could harvest leaves from a Silver Oak tree in order to help his family survive. I always wondered why he didn't harvest the silver lining from clouds, after all, he could fly! Hypnogourds are worthless as treasure although some people find them very valuable...more on that later.

The Dragon's ear is valuable as it tells the holder when useful information is being discussed but not valuable in a monetary sense, and Castle Roogna at this time has been lost in the wilderness for 800 years.

Answer: Iris

Iris was a very powerful master of illusion who knew she needed a man to be a "puppet king" so she could rule Xanth. Bink was, however, more interested in reality than illusion. Irene is the yet-unborn daughter of Iris and Trent, Ivy is the yet-unborn daughter of Dor and Irene, and Ida is the long lost twin of Ivy.

Answer: He's a woman hater

Although he loves women in small doses he believes that every woman's ultimate goal is the downfall of her spouse. When he and Bink meet Dee his ramblings and accusations actually run her off. Of course Dee and Bink are destined to meet again.

Answer: They are actually the same person

Dee, Wynn and Fanchon are actually three aspects of the same person collectively called Chameleon. She actually cycles through these different aspects following a Lunar cycle. As Dee she is average in looks and in intelligence, as she progresses to Wynne she becomes incredibly beautiful and extremely stupid and as the progression advances to Fanchon she becomes hideously ugly but incredibly intelligent until the cycle starts all over again.

Answer: a manticore

Bink actually tricks the hippocampus and rides it across the moat, and then finds a hidden crack in the giant door which allows it to be opened. In order to get past the manticore he has to trick it into rushing to attack him thus getting wedged in the previously open door.

Answer: Beauregard

Beauregard is actually a demon who was writing a thesis about the supposed supremacy of demons titled "Fallibilities of Other Intelligent Life in Xanth". He served Humphrey in order to study other life forms without having to do any extra work to meet them. All he had to do was await creatures who came to Humphrey for answers.

The Brain Coral works at preserving creatures and Xanth, Simurgh is the keeper of the seeds of the Tree of Life and Snortimer is the monster under Ivy's bed.

Answer: Exile

Humphrey actually issued a document saying that Bink did indeed have magic but because The Storm King had bad eyesight he refused to acknowledge the document. Bink actually still had some of the water from the healing spring but once again the King refused to use it as to do so would admit he was somehow sick. Thus, as per the law, Bink was exiled to Mundania, where no magic exists.

Answer: His wife and son died

It did take some time for Trent to recruit and train an army, and it is never as easy to find, and enter Xanth (especially since it is guarded by a shieldstone, which allows living creatures to leave but not to enter) but, if not for the death of his wife and son he probably would have remained in Mundania.

His wife and son died from an illness that in all probability magic could have cured.

Answer: He could adapt living objects into more useful ones

Roogna could adapt any living object into a more useful object. For instance, he could create regular cherries into devastating cherry bombs. Nero, the ninth King of Xanth, could bring golems to life; Ebnez, the sixteenth King of Xanth, could use a talent similar to Roogna's but he had to use inanimate objects and Jonathon was the magician who could animate corpses producing zombies.

Answer: Millie

Millie's talent was sex appeal, unusual and at times useful! Her children are Hiatus and Lacuna and Jonathon is their father.

Answer: He could summon will-o-the-wisps

Herman the Hermit was actually a centaur who was exiled from the centaur herd for practicing magic. It was widely thought that centaurs had no magic talents, or at least if they did they never, ever showed them. Herman spent his time in the wilderness and recognized the threat the wiggles possessed early on and used his magic to use the will-o-the-wisp to gather creatures to destroy the threat, losing his life in the process but becoming a hero to Xanth.

Answer: Roland

Roland was a very respected member of the Elders and actually was Bink's father. Humphrey wasn't actually an Elder, even though he was a powerful magician; Aeolus was actually the previous king who had died and Iris, while a very powerful sorceress was not a member of the Elders, although she was the one Trent married!

Answer: He cannot be harmed by magic

The bottom line is that his talent is that he cannot really be harmed by magic; inconvenienced, yes, but not truly harmed.
