Dexys Midnight Runners was founded in Birmingham in 1978. The two original members of Dexys, vocalist Kevin Rowland and guitarist Kevin (known as 'Al') Archer come from the West Midlands. Rowland was born in Wolverhampton and Archer in Birmingham.
