The original band members were all born in the month of May. Alan's birthday is on May 20th, Darrell's birthday is May 21st, Sean's birthday is May 22nd, and Bob's birthday is May 23rd.

Answer: All of these

The song "Come and I Will Sing you" is the oldest song in Newfoundland history, and perhaps maybe one of the oldest written song in the world's history. The origins of this song can be traced back to medieval times; it was originally written in Hebrew and Arabic.

Although it is a song that can be sung year round, it is more associated with Christmas, as it is reminiscent if the "Twelve Days of Christmas" type song.
3. All of the band members sing, but who is the lead vocalist?

Answer: Alan

Alan Doyle is the lead vocalist. Sean and Bob do sing lead on some songs, "Come and I Will Sing You", "Helmethead" (Bob), "The Night Pat Murphy Died" "Mari-Mac" and "General Taylor" (Sean). Alan is also a proficient songwriter and producer.

Sean and Alan doing the majority of the singing, Bob makes his singing debut with "Helmethead", a hockey song. He follows up with "Come and I Will Sing You" on "The Hard and the Easy" CD.

Winners of the Entertainer of the Year between the years 1996-2000, the band did not win the award in 2001. They had decided in 2001 not to submit their names for nomination, they felt that as previous winners that they would remain out of the running so that someone else would have the opportunity to win the award.

The four original band members are Alan Doyle, Sean McCann, Bob Hallett and Darrell Powers. Their focus was on bringing Newfoundland music and culture to the rest of Canada and the world. Kris Macfarlane and Murray Foster joined the band in 2003.

Darrell Powers retired from Great Big Sea in 2003. He decided that he would like to spend more time with his family. After he retired, Kris MacFarlane and Murray Foster joined the band.

Answer: Abbotsford, British Columbia

February 9th, 2006, the Great Big Sea tour bus en route to a performance in Abbotsford British Columbia, tipped and ended up in the ditch on the Trans-Canada Highway. Abbotsford is approximately 80 kilometers east of Vancouver. Luckily no one was seriously hurt, the bus driver had minor head injuries, and Great Big Sea went on to perform the scheduled concert that night.
10. Great Big Sea played their first concert on March 11, 1993. Who did they open for?

Answer: Irish Descendants

The band opened for the Irish Descendants. They performed at Memorial University in St. John's Newfoundland. This was the beginning of their long and prosperous musical career.
