Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who was "The I-5 Killer"?

Answer: Randall Brent Woodfield

At the time of his arrest "Randy" Woodfield was employed as a bartender. When he had gone to college, he had been an exceptional football player...just not good enough...A popular Midwest professional team rejected him outright after just one tryout.

He was used to being on top, the hero, but because of this apparent failure, he tried to regain control of his situation by following his psychopathic instincts. He is believed to have committed at least 60 sexual assaults and to have murdered anywhere between 12 and 18 women, which he dumped on the side of Highway 5.
2. Who was "The Yorkshire Ripper"?

Answer: Peter Sutcliffe

This man was the cause of the biggest manhunt of its time to be launched. By the time all was said and done 13 women lost their lives. Their ages ranged from 16 to 47, and their occupations ranged from that of prostitute to student. The only thing that they had had in common was the fact that they were out after dark.

When asked by his brother, why he had done what he did, he was claimed to have said, "I were just cleaning up streets, our kid. Just cleaning up streets."
3. Who was "The Doorbell Killer"?

Answer: Waldemar Szczepinski

Waldemar Szczepinski would ring the doorbell to the homes of elderly ladies, and flash a toy FBI badge. Upon opening the door, he would force his way in and kill his victim. His apparent motive? He was behind on his rent, so he would not just steal what little these poor ladies might have and then kill them to prevent them from identifying him.
4. Who was "The Devil of Turin"?

Answer: Giancarlo Giudice

Giancarlo Giudice killed a total of seven women after torturing them. Most of his victims were left next to rivers and streams. The only reason that he was caught was because an alert police officer observed someone throwing a body off of a bridge over the River Po.

There was a roadblock set up immediately and eventually they netted their man. Following interrogation, he confessed. He was eventually sentenced to life imprisonment.
5. Who was "The Stockwell Strangler"?

Answer: Kenneth Erskine

Kenneth Erskine was responsible for terrorizing elderly women in South London during 1986. He had a history of being a vagrant and petty thief. Even though he was 24 years old at the time of his arrest, he only had the mentality of an eleven year old.

A particularly violent and sadistic 11 year old. When he finally confessed, he went into detail about how it was to kill his victims. He accepted his sentence of no less than 40 years with a smile on his face.
6. Who was called "White Fang"?

Answer: Nikolai Dzhumagaleiv

Nikolai Dzhumagaleiv was known as "White Fang" due to the fact that he had white metal false teeth. He terrorized the Kazakhstan region of the Soviet Union. Being charged with a prior of manslaughter had no bearing on his activities. He would escort ladies down by the river, being the perfect gentleman, until he got them to a remote location.

He then killed them. He was finally discovered when two of his friends that he invited back to his apartment found evidence of murder in the kitchen. They called police and even though he was charged with killing seven women, was judged to be insane and committed to an insane asylum in Tashkent. An unusual footnote...he managed to escape from the institution and wasn't caught for two years.

He was recaptured after he was observed trying to proposition women outside of Moscow.
7. Who was known as London's "Railway Murderer" and "The Man With the Laser Eyes"?

Answer: John Francis Duffy

John Francis Duffy killed his victims at or around railway depots. He was eventually charged with a total of 5 murders. Duffy was eventually sentenced to seven life terms in prison. An interesting footnote...he was also the first criminal in English legal history to be identified by the procedure known as Psychological Offender Profiling.
8. Who was "The Peeping Tom Shooter"?

Answer: Rickey Brogsdale

Rickey Brogsdale would lurk outside of the windows of people's houses. When he would get noticed, he would fire his .22 caliber rifle-aiming to kill. He didn't kill until his eighth attempt, however, and was eventually only charged with two deaths, even though he has confessed and the police have linked him to at least five more. It took a jury just three hours to convict him to death.
9. Who was "The Night Stalker"?

Answer: Richard Ramirez

Sentenced to no fewer than 19 death sentences, he was alleged to have said, "Big deal. Death comes with the territory...see you in Disneyland." The drifter and Satan worshiper found himself a "victim" as terrified residents showed him enough was enough, when a group of people who recognized him beat him into submission before police arrived. In court, he was at times sullen and at other times he was explosive. At one time flashing a pentagram on his left palm, and another time muttering "Evil, Evil...," and making horns on the side of his head with his fingers.

As he was convicted of 12 first degree murders and various other offenses including burglary and rape he was said to have told the court, "You maggots make me sick. I will be avenged. Lucifer dwells within all of us!" Richard Ramirez was sent to California's death row.
10. Who was "The Ice Man"?

Answer: Richard Kuklinski

It is uncertain if he got his moniker from his chilling personality or because he kept his victims refrigerated so as to keep the time of death open to conjecture. He would lure his victims on the pretense of investing into fraudulent business ventures.

When his victims brought the money to the meetings, he would dispatch them. He would then place the bodies into cold storage for a time to retard the decomposition process. He was finally caught and is now serving several consecutive life sentences.
