Charles Darwin's paternal grandfather was Erasmus Darwin, a physician who was once offered the post of physician to George III. His maternal grandfather was Josiah Wedgwood, the famed English potter. Charles and wife Emma had 10 children, two of which died in infancy. Darwin died in 1882, aged 73 and is buried in Westminster Abbey.
