Episode 15 -"The Friday Night Slaughter" Quiz

Answer: Cutting the sketches between dress rehearsal and the live.

Immediately after the dress rehearsal Cal, Danny, and Matt go up to Matt's office and re-jig the running order of the show. They drop the sketches that don't quite work, and loose those that will cause the show to over-run. This is the 'Friday Night Slaughter'.

Answer: 'Metric Conversion'

'Four Candles' is a sketch by Ronnie Barker from the BBC TV show 'The Two Ronnies'. The 'Flying Fickle Finger of Fate Award' came from 'Rowan and Martin's Laugh In'. 'Peripheral Vision Man' is sketch that no longer appears on 'Studio 60'. Tom and Dylan had been trying out 'Metric Conversion' for the past 6 weeks and it had always been slaughtered.

Answer: Airlines computer software is Y2K compliant.

This was being shown on a TV in the writers room. Lance Armstrong is the cyclist who won the 1999 Tour, Heidi Fleiss was a Hollywood 'madam', and Philip Morris are a cigarette manufacturer.

Answer: Tim Batale

Tim Batale's girlfriend was making a film in Canada, and Tim was experiencing Writers Block. Tim Batale was taking drugs to cure his writing drought, and was sacked because of it. Tim Batale is an anagram of Matt Albie, as are the wrong answers. Matt Alibie is becoming mixed up and starting to loose his way. At the moment he is the main writer, and is recycling old sketches and also taking drugs. Danny, Cal and Andy cannot remember Tim.

Answer: White Stripes

The White Stripes were getting a reputation for not appearing. This show was the second that they had had to pull out of.
The other bands were discovered on an Amazon discussion board about pop groups with colours in their name.

Diana noticed that Matt's pupils were dilated when he thanked her for being the musical guest. They discussed the use of narcotics and writing. At the end of the show, Danny and Andy are failing to find Tim, and Matt calls Diana, Diane.

Answer: Simon Stiles

Simon Styles also joined the cast in 1999, and had been sitting in the foyer for 6 hours waiting for his audition with Wes when Matt was looking for a reader. Matt lost out to Luke Scott in the competition to write a sketch for Harriet. Tom was not around in 1999. Bearded Danny was asleep in the writers' room.

Answer: Julia Roberts

Harriet does an impression of Julia Roberts whilst in the corridor. In another episode she 'does' Helen Hunt.

Answer: Flea Infestation

Jordan had bought some pillows at an auction unaware of guests, fleas, within the pillows. Halley Galloway was waiting for the OK from the subject of a documentary about a paraplegic surgeon. Jack Rudolph did not appear in this episode. Brandy Chastain was a very bad idea that Matt pitched to Harriet when they first started to work together.

Answer: Maidenhair Fern

Harriet received from Matt a Maidenhair Fern, which is famous for its delicate fronds. The fern likes the dark and damp, not that Harriet's room is damp. Maidenhair Spleenwort can be found growing in cracks on the Limestone Pavements (geological formation) of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The Maidenhair Tree is a form of Gingko biloba, and Maidenhair Grass is used in flower arranging. Neither the tree nor grass, when fully grown, would fit in Harriet's room.

Answer: Mexican

Tom's Canadian accent, according to Andy sounded Mexican. Andy in reference to the 'Old Days' says that, as reward for his poor performance, Tom would have to go down to the foyer and sell fruit juice stark naked!
