To quote the opening sequence, "Humankind can not gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost." That is alchemy's first law of equivalent exchange.

Ed's left leg was taken in the transmutation that brought about the homunculus Sloth. He gave his right arm to attach Al's soul to the suit of armor.
4. Al Elric is known as the Fullmetal Alchemist.

Ed is the Fullmetal Alchemist. Ed and Al both took the state alchemy exam but Al dropped out before it was finished. On a side note, Ed was the youngest person to ever pass the exam and become a state alchemist.

Answer: A doll

Al also participated in this transmutation. The doll was a gift for Winry, but the alchemy scared her and her dog.

Bradley was actually a homunculus; a false human kinda like a living doll. His true name was Pride.

At the end of the series, Wrath was still alive. Pride was dead, but not by Ed's hand. Pride was killed by Roy Mustang. Sloth was the second homunculus Ed killed.
