Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the eleventh episode entitled "Hell Hath Frozen Over", the remaining seven castaways were each given $500 to bid for the items in the Survivor Auction. When the host Jeff Probst announced that the next item would give the buyer an advantage in the next immunity challenge, who immediately offered the maximum $500 and won the bid?

Answer: Abi-Maria

Most players bid for foods and drinks. Abi-Maria bought herself the coveted item, which enabled her to proceed directly to the final round of the individual immunity challenge without competing in the previous two rounds.
2. In "Hell Hath Frozen Over", the immunity challenge required players to run through an obstacle course, with ropes attached to them. The challenge was divided into three rounds. Using the advantage that she bought at the Survivor Auction, Abi-Maria sat out during the first two rounds and advanced to the final round of the challenge. Did she win the immunity challenge?

Answer: Yes

The first five players to complete the first round advanced to the second round, where they would complete again to secure one of the two spots left in the third round. The final round saw a fierce competition between Abi-Maria, Carter, and Jonathan. In the end, Abi-Maria won the immunity challenge.

At Tribal Council, Jonathan received four votes whereas Denise received three. Jonathan became the fifth member of the jury.
3. In the twelfth episode entitled "Shot Into Smithereens", the castaways were joined by their loved ones for their reward challenge. This episode featured some very poignant moments and Jeff described the reunion of one particular player with his/her younger brother, Justice, as one of the most powerful and emotional moments on the show. Which player was being described?

Answer: Lisa

Upon seeing her brother, Lisa burst into tears and sobbed uncontrollably. Her brother, Justice, also gave her some useful advice and convinced her that "Survivor" was just a game and she could actually play it. The much-needed encouragement boosted Lisa's confidence. Malcolm won the reward challenge and he picked Lisa and Michael to join him for the reward.
4. In "Shot Into Smithereens", Lisa tried to persuade the remaining players to blindside Malcolm, because she saw him as the biggest threat in the game. Nevertheless, her plan failed when Malcolm won the immunity challenge. Even though Abi-Maria was the most unlikable person in the tribe, the castaways decided to vote out Carter at Tribal Council.

Answer: True

Abi-Maria knew that she would most probably be voted out next so she told the other players that she had found a fourth Hidden Immunity Idol. The castaways thought that Carter posed a bigger threat than Abi-Maria. At Tribal Council, Carter was eliminated and he became the sixth member of the jury.
5. In the thirteenth episode entitled "Gouge My Eyes Out", returning player Michael won the reward challenge and he picked Malcolm and Lisa to join him for the very special reward, where they had the opportunity to swim with which gigantic marine creature?

Answer: Whale shark

While Michael, Malcolm, and Lisa were having fun swimming with the magnificent whale shark in the sea, Denise and Abi-Maria returned to their campsite.
6. In "Gouge My Eyes Out", the individual immunity challenge required the remaining five players to use two wooden planks to cross a rope bridge. Along the way, they needed to collect puzzle pieces as well, which they would use in the last section of the challenge to assemble a maze. Which player, despite falling off the rope bridge, caught up quickly with the other players and eventually won the challenge?

Answer: Malcolm

Malcolm fell off the rope bridge and he needed to start all over again. He caught up with the other players quickly when he assembled his puzzle pieces. At Tribal Council, Abi-Maria was voted out of the game and she became the seventh member of the jury.
7. In the fourteenth episode entitled "Million Dollar Question", the final reward challenge required the remaining four players to run through an obstacle course while collecting puzzle pieces. What was Malcolm's reward for winning the challenge?

Answer: An advantage at the individual immunity challenge

The players would use the puzzle pieces collected to complete a dragon puzzle. Malcolm won the reward challenge and he was given an advantage at the final individual immunity challenge.
8. In "Million Dollar Question", after paying tribute to the fourteen players who had been eliminated from the game, the final four players proceeded to their final immunity challenge. Despite having an advantage at the challenge, Malcolm lost the individual immunity challenge.

Answer: True

The final immunity challenge required players to hold a wooden notch while balancing a metal ball on it using several wooden rods. If at anytime a player's ball dropped, he or she was out of the challenge. Having won the reward challenge held previously, Malcolm had an advantage in the final immunity challenge: if his ball dropped, he would be given a second chance.

Despite this added advantage, Malcolm lost the challenge and he was voted out of the game at Tribal Council. He became the ninth and final member of the jury.
9. In "Million Dollar Question", the nine jury members posed questions to the three finalists before casting their votes. Which castaway, known for his/her stature, and had attended every single Tribal Council in the entire season, was named the sole survivor of "Survivor: Philippines"?

Answer: Denise

Denise received a total of six votes from Abi-Maria, Artis, Jeff, Jonathan, Malcolm, and Pete. On the other hand, Lisa received one vote from RC whereas Michael received one as well, from Carter.
10. During the reunion show aired after the final episode, the "Sprint Player of the Season" was announced by the host Jeff Probst. The winner won a cash prize of $100,000. Who was the winner?

Answer: Lisa

Jeff announced that Lisa won by a very narrow margin (0.7% of total votes) over Malcolm.
