Split Rock Lighthouse was built in 1910 and is located on the North Shore of Lake Superior. In 1945, the lighthouse, surrounding buildings, and land was made into a state park. The U.S. Coast Guard retired the light in 1969. It was featured on a stamp in 1995. In 2011, it was made a National Historic Landmark.
