Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. One of the funniest (and most energetic) songs you're likely to see in the movies is "Make 'em Laugh". Who sang (and danced) the number?

Answer: Donald O'Connor

"Singin' In The Rain". All four were in the cast - and Kelly's rendition of the title song is deservedly remembered. Nevertheless, O'Connor's moment with "Laugh" is also memorable.
2. From TV ... who could forget "I'm in Love with Attila The Hun"?

Answer: Dick Van Dyke Show

A little nostalgia from good old Rob Petrie, reflecting on army days of long ago.
3. From Broadway, it's amusing to think of a bunch of grown people singing about "a little tin box". What is the musical?

Answer: Fiorello!

"A little tin box, a little tin box, that a little tin key unlocks ..." Great song. Forgotten musical?
4. From pop ... who can resist this lyric: "If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife ..."?

Answer: Jimmy Soul

"Hey, man, I saw your wife the other day - she is ugly." "Yeah, but she sure can cook." What can I possibly say?
5. What movie features the easygoing song "Re-enlistment Blues"?

Answer: From Here to Eternity

Even a little scene like this is well-done and works perfectly. Great movie.
6. Which of these songs is the most recent?

Answer: My Wife Ran Off With a Banana

The three other choices are all from the 50's - and all are genuinely silly songs. "Banana" is from the 80's - and if you haven't heard it,
it's also a bit off-the-wall.
7. The "Officer Krupke" song from "West Side Story" is a classic. In the movie, which character sang (most of) the song?

Answer: Riff

One of the funniest bits you'll ever see. (Russ Tamblyn must be a gymnast.) The "America" number (on the roof top) is also superb.
8. Which TV series has an episode in which some of the characters sing "My Boy, Lollipop"?

Answer: Cheers

Norm and Cliff perform - while Frasier criticizes. Cute.
9. "Jubilation T Cornpone" is a genuinely funny moment in "Lil Abner". In what war was he a soldier?

Answer: Civil War

How to become famous through bungling, blundering, and generally screwing up.
10. You have to like a song that's all about horse racing. What show is it from?

Answer: Guys and Dolls

"I've got the horse right here, his name is Paul Revere, and a guy who says if the weather's clear ..." Good old Stubby Kaye.
