Hearts are also known as Jam Tarts, both deriving from the shortened version of the name, "Hearts". Founded in 1874, Hearts are the oldest and most successful senior club in Edinburgh.
The name comes from the Old Tolbooth of Edinburgh that stood in the Royal Mile and was referred to as The Heart of Mid-Lothian. Sir Walter Scott also wrote a novel entitled "The Heart of Midlothian.

Addicks is a corruption of Haddocks, the name of a local fish and chip shop. The traditional kit of red shorts and white socks also led to another nickname. "Red Robns". Founded in 1905, the club has its home ground in south east London.

Sunderland's colours are red and white, but the 'Black Cats' nickname is thought to have come from the Black Cat gun battery on the River Wear. Founded in 1879, the club moved from Roker Park to the impressively named Stadium of Light in 1997.
