Guidelines for Quiz Creation

Important: ALL of the following sets of guidelines are relevant for the category you would like to submit to. Please read all of them carefully and keep them in mind as you develop your quiz. Thanks!

The following sets of guidelines apply to quizzes created in Spanish.

Guidelines for Spanish

This is a *restricted* category. New quizzes on Spanish will only be accepted if of exceptional merit. "Exceptional merit" means precisely that. It's not sufficient for a quiz to be merely competent or free of error.

Guidelines for Languages

For the world languages sub-category, please be sure to add additional interesting information for every question. It is appropriate for an explanation to be given for every language related question. Please do not submit quizzes with single word questions. The following languages are restricted categories: Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Latin and Spanish.

Guidelines for World

This category explores global cultures and interesting mixed facts about such diverse things as languages, politics, tourist sites and other characteristics of the countries on our Earth. Please feel free to submit quizzes that regard cultures and other unique information about your favorite country or culture! No word scramble quizzes are allowed in this category. Each question in your quizzes must contain interesting additional information. Quizzes consisting largely or wholly of very simple questions are *not* accepted. The following sub-categories are closed:

Currencies
Unusual Laws
IATA Codes
World Flags
Flags of the USA

These languages are restricted categories:

Dutch
French
German
Italian
Japanese
Latin
Spanish

New quizzes on those languages will only be accepted if of exceptional merit. "Exceptional merit" means precisely that. It's not sufficient for a quiz to be merely competent or free of error.

In addition, the following sub-categories are restricted:

RMS Titanic
The London Underground
Presidential Trivia
US Commercials

Note: For the guidelines on geographical quizzes information, please refer to the 'Geography' category.

Another note: We may ask quiz makers to revise their quizzes if there are too many questions that are number- or date-based.

Language Quizzes: Please always make sure that you give all the information necessary to enable people to *use the answer correctly*. This means that you must give the grammatical gender of nouns (or, if the language doesn't have grammatical gender, say so). Also give the plural if it is irregular. With verbs you must give details of irregularities in an accepted and clear form, for example 'helfen - hilft - half - hat geholfen + dat. - to help'. Bear in mind that your knowledge of the language must be sufficient to deal with any correction notices, and that the latter may even be in the foreign language. If you create a quiz on a language that is not written in Roman characters please use a recognized system of transliteration or transcription.

Please do not write or submit a quiz until you have played a few games and are familiar with Quiz Creation Guidelines .
