Guidelines for Quiz Creation

Important: ALL of the following sets of guidelines are relevant for the category you would like to submit to. Please read all of them carefully and keep them in mind as you develop your quiz. Thanks!

The following sets of guidelines apply to quizzes created in Greek Myth.

Guidelines for Greek Myth

  1. Please give your quiz an overall theme, to tie your questions together and give players a good idea what to expect. For example, your quiz might cover a particular god or goddess, or myths involving insects, or heroes with the letter A in their names, or arguments among the gods.

Only quizzes that show originality will be accepted in this category. Quizzes where most of the questions duplicate those already asked in many other quizzes will not be accepted. Your quiz will stand more chance of being accepted if it has an original approach, is free from spelling and grammatical errors, has interesting information, and contains ten questions. Please check quizzes already online, so you can create a quiz that doesn't duplicate others.

Guidelines for Mythology & Legends

Please note: The "Greek Myth" sub-category is restricted. Only the most exceptional and original quizzes will be accepted. Also note: We no longer accept quizzes that ask players to match Greek and Roman gods, of the "Mars is the Roman god of war; who is his Greek equivalent?" variety. This Egyptian Myth category no longer accepts general "Who was the god of this or that?" type quizzes. We will still accept quizzes on individual gods and goddesses, and on aspects of Egyptian myth that have not yet been over-covered in online quizzes. The Norse Myth category no longer accepts general "Who was the god of this or that?" type quizzes. We will still accept quizzes on individual gods and goddesses, and on aspects of Norse myth that have not yet been over-covered in online quizzes.

Guidelines for Humanities

Titles of books, song titles, art pieces, play titles, as well as quotes, require quotation marks. Spelling and grammar are, as always, important.

Please note that the following sub-categories are restricted:

Vocabulary

Spelling

Greek mythology

Only the most exceptional and original quizzes in these sub-categories will be accepted. ("Exceptional" means precisely that and not simply "adequate" or "competent").

Very simplistic quizzes on any topic will likely be rejected.

Interesting additional information is required on all questions. Repetition of the answer is not acceptable.

Plagiarism is not allowed at Quizzyland. Sources must be cited if quotes and/or definitions are drawn word-for-word (or nearly so), and quote marks must be used for the borrowed excerpts.

For vocabulary quizzes (a restricted category) don't rely on obscurity resulting from regionalism or from subject specialism (jargon).

Quizzes on specific artists, philosophers, social scientists, etc. should be redirected to the people category. Likewise for mixed people quizzes in any of these fields. While quizzes on musicals and the performed versions of plays belong in the theater sub-category, quizzes on the written works themselves should be directed toward the literature category. Quizzes on the discipline of architecture belong in the sub-category 'architecture', but quizzes that include trivia about buildings (e.g. how tall, location, etc.) and other man-made constructs should be sent to the world category (world sites sub-category). Have fun!

Please do not write or submit a quiz until you have played a few games and are familiar with Quiz Creation Guidelines.
